You could always sell the one you have and let them do the Campaign or Recall too.

I was told to remove mine. And honestly, that's ok. I don't need them trying to work around my cap and risk damaging it. I just ran some eye bolts into my garage ceiling and used 4 ratchet straps to suspend it.

I only saw one panel that was clearly not popped back on the B-pillar. So I fixed that. To fix my new rattle in the headliner I simply pulled the weatherstripping from the top area on the drivers door and ran my hand around up there moving stuff. I moved whatever was causing my noise.

    Good luck anyways though lol.

Glad to hear you were able to get stuff situated and back in place with no more noise. Does the new setup look like they fixed the possibility of leaks in the future?

There is now a black plastic trim ring around the light. I didn't see how it would leak before, so... lol.

I wasn't going to deal with the issue since I had no issues with the original one, but my dealer actually called me about it, so I felt compelled.

If you explain your sittuation to the dealer, they might be able to work with you on it.

Ironically the Dealer also called me and "strongly" encouraged me to bring the truck in too, lol.

Took about an hour and a half to get mine done FYI. Normally I walk around teh lot and look at the cars, but there weren't many to look at. They did have a new Tundra which was interesting to see in person.

Oh, I saw some other stuff too while I was there, like this gem,

It was in Silver Sky Metallic like my Tacoma. I hate to admit this out loud, but it looked better in person than the pics. There is a lot of sculpting that really pops with the SSM, like the Taco. I forgot to take in the gigantic grille somehow though. It was a limited sport, so too much chrome for my liking.

Getting my 3rd eyeball leak fixed Tuesday and going to request tune update.

Is the frame treatment something they check automatically ?

I am taking mine in tomorrow morning for a leaking 3rd Brake light. Had a couple sitting in the back seat during a torrential downpour yesterday while we worked on paperwork for the sale of our 2008 4Runner to them. They said “Umm, do you realize you have water coming in above your back window?” Had vaguely heard of the issue before...now I am well acquainted with it. My 2016 VIN comes up as part of the service campaign, so hopefully no issues from the dealer, but we will see.

Well shit. On one hand they fixed the 3rd brake light issue free, no questions asked. On the other hand, the tech just called and said my front timing cover is leaking. On the bright side, they found it before I did and I have a 100K warranty with around 85k miles on the truck, so it should be free. The down side is that with how busy they are right now, how long it is likely to take to get all the parts, and with Christmas coming up, it is likely going to be at least 10 days before I get it back. He said the job is typically $500+ just for the parts and a solid 2 to 2.5 days of labor. So it likely would have been well north of $2k without the warranty. That warranty just paid for itself.

I'd just tell them to call me back when they have the parts. Timing cover leak posses no significant threat.

Good on them for finding it though. I complained about my HPFP leaking on top of the motor and they totally skipped over that.

Honestly, I am not in a rush to get it back. My wife and I are both working from home and her 2022 4runner is sitting in the driveway for either of us to use. I would rather give them all the time they need. I got the impression what the guy was trying to tell me was that they only had a couple of guys that they trusted to do a job this big and that they would be working on it over time, but couldn't dedicate those guys to it non-stop all day long. So I would rather they have it there where they could let the right guys work on it and take their time to do it right, rather than rush them and have somebody else take a shot at it. We will see I guess.

Wondering if (I've searched the board, but didn't come up with an answer, not that I could find anyway.).... 2022's will have this issue corrected? I'm (very excited) scheduled to pick up my new 2022 Tacoma TRD Off-Road in about 4 weeks and am putting together an "inspection checklist" and am wondering if I need to look for the new style bezel / lens to confirm this problem is not an issue?

Thank you in advance, so much great information here at tacomaworld.
