I have a buddy that has a 2020 TRD off road and is going to upgrade his suspension. I have a 2016 SR and I’m thinking about buying his stock suspension. Will his suspension fit my truck?

Your SR will do just fine without it. But yes, it’ll swap over.

    Like, so many.
It’s an upgrade. I’d go for it.

I would pass. If you get it all for under $100, maybe. The OR suspension is really not that good.

OP, my SR goes everywhere my buddies OR's go with All Terrains. Better to just save up and get some 5100's or even 4600's. The only nice thing about the OR's suspension is that it has the Bilstein logo on it. Bilstein doesn't sell those shocks in their catalogue because they're not an upgrade.

And before anyone says anything, stock OR Billies use a 36mm piston and are unrelated to 4600's which use a 46mm piston. If OP has a stock SR all around, 4600's will be a fantastic budget upgrade.

Hopefully you ended up going with the swap. How did it come out?? I just had a a loaner offroad and the suspension is 10x better than my sr. The bumps I was hitting on the highway were absorbed 100x better than the bouncing ass of my sr

I did the same thing. Bought take offs a 2020 off road with 29 miles and these were complete assemblies. Simple bolt on and looked nice.

The OR aren't much of an upgrade, true. But they will ride a bit softer offroad.

I'm not saying you're wrong but I've put 70k on my sr. And was very surprised at how much better it handled the bumps that I drive daily. It was a 2021 OR though..Not sure if it had the factory lift and such..

I’ve upgraded my suspension twice with factory take offs and it’s nice having fresh shocks and coilovers - if you do the work and get the parts for cheap it’s definitely worth it for sure.

To ve fair o put heavy loads of up to 700 lbs in my bed. I don't work it hard per say but I do work it a bit. I feel like I will grab some take offs in the near future just to have on hand. Chances are I'll need to swap put my leaf packs and shocks sooner then the "usual" 4 banger owner. Better to have on hand IMHO.

Thank you for the reassurances!! I have a local pair up for grabs for 200 front and rear. They were taken off at the dealer with 5 miles on them. I'd say that's worth it.

I've driven both, and yes it will fit, and yes it will be a huge upgrade. Especially if you also upgrade the to the OR front coils.

But, I would also look into the bilstein 5100 shocks that can give you up to a 2" lift in the front. Even bigger than the stock OR shocks. I would price out the difference between the 5100's and what he's asking for his used OR shocks.

Either way, huge improvement over the bumps.
