I'm sure you can put it off for a while. Not like this kind of weather sticks around. It better not, otherwise why am I paying such high taxes...

Anybody have an extra headlight panel thing they want to sell me? Just noticed today that I’m missing the one on the driver side.

No kidding..the problem with that is my procrastination is precisely why I havent gotten ready for the rain yet, maybe if I start now Ill have it done in time for the next storm. Im gonna see if I can figure out how to rig up my giant clear waterproof canopy over my sail shades I have now so they are at least water proof over the middle section. I just need to make sure it doesnt turn into a 1000 gallon kiddie pool above my head, lol.

Ill check my junkyard but I dont think I have any of those little filler panels.

Here is a cool video about Desert racing in motorcycles in D37 where we go and risk it for no real good reason other than the competition and bragging rights, while trying not to kill ourselves, haha!

Wow a blast from the past. Borrowed a bike from a buddy after not riding for 10+ years and completed this (1 loop only). Completely kicked my ass and I
was probably last, but finishing was an accomplishment for me.

    San Diego Exhaust Re-route

I have checked some post history but most posts are quite old and I’m looking for some current recommendations. I need to get my exhaust re-routed higher than the crossmember for my skid set. Anyone have any shop recommendations/experiences/ pricing in San Diego area? Thanks in advance Tacomaworld Fam!

Depends where in San Diego you are. East county I'd recommend kirks radiator. He does good work for a good price.

There are actually 3 races in January, the first one is on the 9th, and that's the Check Chase put on by the checkers, the race in that video was that same race but from January 2021. I didnt race it this year but I have won 1st place in class in it twice, its one of the more difficult races on the schedule which are the ones I tend to accel in since I prefer doing a lot of technical riding and just difficult things on a dirtbike in general, however I love going fast as well, who would have thought, haha...

Im planning on trying to race the entire season, Ill try to race all the Grand Prix, desert scrambles (I held the #3 OA plate for the 2016 season), sprint enduros, dual euros, as well as all the Hare and Hound races. The best plate I have been able to earn was the #4 overall in D37 desert points which is good but I really want to see if I can get that #1 plate, that would be pretty awesome!
Also going to see if I can race the entire National Hare and Hound series again, its a bit of a pain having t travel to other states to race as well as doing all the local stuff but it is what it is, at least 3 of those races are held within my district but the other 5 are out of state (Idaho, Utah, and Nevada this year).

So we shall see, its a lot of travel, tons of racing as well as fuel, tires, tons of bike maintenance as well as likely repairs, etc. and the most important thing is to try and not break myself!
I've got a solid 2-stroke race bike ready to go, however I need to get a newer 4 stroke so my quiver is complete, haha.. But holy crap bike prices have gone through the roof! I guess that means it time to sell some of my old ones , maybe I can sell 2 or 3 old bikes then I can afford a newer one.
Anybody looking for a dirtbike, haha...

That's pretty awesome! The Checkers tend to put on some pretty tough races and are known for it, so when you enter one of those its gonna be a work out! Especially if you arent used to riding and or racing at a fast pace with a bunch of gnarly hillclimbs and rocks all over the course.
Pretty impressive that you were able to even finish the first loop, they are brutal! Good job man!

Generally speaking the way the H&H courses are laid out is a 2 or 3 loop format, typically 1st loop is for all ages and skill levels, the 2nd loop gets more difficult and the 3rd is by far the hardest and usually only the Expert/pro line and younger Ammies run, so as a desert racer you learn to save some energy for the last loop or you're gonna have a bad time!!
Hopefully desert racing will still be around for a while but with the way things are going with land use and them trying to ban anything that is fun and being on this extreme green measure that they have been on, they would love nothing more than to squash any sport that uses engines and try and force electric everything down our throats without thinking about how the electrical infrastructure will handle this when the things they implement outrun the grid.
Not to mention the ban next year banning the sales of ALL new gas powered tools, generators, etc. under 25hp in the state of California. The irony of having rolling blackouts yet you are unable to go to the store to pick up a generator! Better get them while you still can.

I do them pretty often but I use all new mandrel bends that I buy just for doing these so it flows even better than stock, I use 2.25 tubing.

Lost the lens on my corner light sometime on my 1000 mile trek Thursday and Friday. Decided to swap in my new set of headlights and corner lights this weekend in Palm Desert so I’d be “safe”. Added a harness and figured out how to disable DRL (through low beam filament, guess that was the s back in 2002.). Didn’t realize when I left that I had blown the parking light fuse.

It started getting dark and I realized my f up. Two blown fuses before I tracked it down to the 7443 bulbs in the new corner lights. There are two standards. I swapped in the OG bulbs and back to OK. Though I am short a brake bulb and I snapped a tab too.

Self induced mistakes are the best kind.

Finding electrical issues at night is less than ideal, ask me how I know, haha.. Glad you got it to work, those pesky amps.....

Looks like Jason already responded to this, but I was going to tag him. He did a reroute on my second gen to get it all nice and tucked up for my skids. Super thrilled with his work.

Anyone up for a day trip tomorrow? Probably cruise out to Ocotillo and up the S2. Hit Oriflame and then Laguna area to hopefully catch some snow. Nothing crazy as far as wheeling goes.
