I really like printing with 3D Solutech carbon fiber Nylon... probably Overkill for a part like this, but the only other filament I have is PLA and that is not really suitable for the heat my garage sees in the summer time

The Cover was printed without supports, so there is some rough spots in the overhang, but it is a shop tool... roughly 6 hours per print, and the last one should be done in about 3 more hours

Had a chance to cut out the sign. It turned out exactly as I hoped.

Shooting for a few minutes to paint it this evening.PXL_20211213_192611192.jpg PXL_20211213_204429551.jpg

They were a little narrow. I did a rendition on the 1st one and F360 rejected them. I made the tab a couple mm wider and it cut it no problem.

I purposely showed no close ups. The cut quality wasn't as nice as I wanted. I need to swap tips. It's good enough for me though. After paint, it won't matter.

Started on some steps for my boat trailer. Should make it easier to gain access to the boat w2hen its on the trailer.

Still need to source some stout tube. Mocked up to help with the visual.

I made 2 sizes, since I wasn't sure of the correct size I really need.

    Mocked up for visualization.

Once the correct length of tube is sourced, the whole thing gets U-bolted to the trailer tongue.

Well.. that did not turn out..

Woke up at 1:30am so I checked on the progress of the print. Being half asleep it took me a minute to understand what happen. When I looked at the print bed with the print still running, there was NOTHING on the print bed, and no filament being extruded that I could see.

Yes the filament was intact and not put or broken.

Turns out at some point the part warped and the giant ball of carbon fiber nylon that had built up on the nozzle knock the print clean off the bed. Leaving a block nozzle just air printing my par

The reprint of the failed part, :fingerscrossed: hopefully it turns out this time.

Not to often I have had this filament fail on me.

But this was what I found of the part that was knocked off the build plate.

    20211220_183035.jpg

And this little mess was balled up around the nozzle...

Yeah, I could see how that would gum up the works. Pun intended...

The reprint was successful, and against reinforced how pleased I am with not only my ender 3 pro but the 3d solutech carbon fiber nylon.

This is the fixed portion of the floating Z that will bolt to the Axis.

The movable portion of the floating z torch holder is done.

Just need to print the actual torch holder and assemble once the shafts and bearings show up.

The linear bearings and 6mm rod came in for the floating Z attachment.

    20211223_212146.jpg

When I went to press the bearings in, things went south. I discovered that the print either shrank a bit or the design is off slightly.

    20211223_214534.jpg

Yep, I get to reprint the floating portion again since the housing cracked.

I picked up a set of metric drill bits so that after the reprint incan run a 12mm bit through to verify the hole.

    But it does move nicely...
