    Hi All
    I have a 07 Tacoma Prerunner w/a
    2.7l , w/ 175000 mi.
Just replaced my valve cover, plug tube gaskets, coils and plugs. In the process I broke almost every wiring harness retaining clip(crispy) around the valve cover.
Tried to get them from the dealer and was told that "there are some parts that Toyota doesn't have "
Any ideas on where to get the correct ones from. I don't rig things on my truck. Thanks

The problem I'm running into is I don't know a part number, size and don't know where to find it.

I recall seeing a post titled something like a part number for every Toyota electrical connector. Since the search function isn’t all that great you’ll need to look through several pages of post titles.

There is one for the connectors. But I’ve never seen one for the harness hold downs.
You literally have to look through parts diagrams.
Such as the “wiring and clamp” here.
    It can be time consuming.

The reason your friendly local Toyota Parts guy probably cannot find you part numbers is that Toyota generally only sells the entire harness. There's a part number for that harness, but not the individual wires, connectors and attachment clips. Make sense?

There is a certain technique to loosen the clips.
Typically you'll break the first one or two until you put in the effort to learn how to do it properly, then you will stop breaking them.
If you broke all of them, then you didn't try to figure out how to avoid that.
At least for the 4L. Which probably uses the same clips.

That being said, I have heard from people who work at dealerships, that supposedly the best parts department guys get put to work in back (in the shop, where cars are fixed) and that the worse one is sent to work at the front counter, dealing with the general public.
So that is who you got to interact with.

Also, I don't know if a Toyota parts guy is as good as a BMW parts guy.
I had a great Toyota parts guy. He also hooked me up with a 3 page printout of all the clips Toyota uses, for me to look what I need and choose.

Then another time, at a different Toyota dealer, different parts guy, for something else
talked to a guy who you'd never be able to make understand that a banana is yellow or that an apple is round.

Also, sometimes it is easier, faster, and simpler, if they feel like it, to just end the conversation with a lie of "it doesn't exist" and leave it at that.
Or they may not genuinely know, also relying on experience knowing what parts were sold in the past, and where/how to find them in the catalog; more common things like brake parts, oil filter, etc.

It’s crazy how little the Toyota dealer parts department seems to know/assist. When I reached out about replacement parts they seemed to be a roadblock as well, unless it’s a full assembly they can’t help. They should have an illustrated parts breakdown showing what the part numbers are and be able to replace components as needed, then again I’m just going off experience with F18 replacement parts lol but still, cmon man!
