It's Friday. Should we talk about the Fumoto valve?

That's the way to get them! That's what I did so it'll be a long time before I need to buy. Installed a Fumoto and also bought a Motiv Tools oil change kit for easy, spotless, and uber fast changes.

I think he means the nut top on the filter for removal.

It's the 3.5 v6. Apparently the TRD filter does have the end caps I'm talking about. A few local dealerships have it in stock. I know it's not needed to have the oil filter made like this, but I've only used the Mobil 1 filters that used to be similar with plastic end pieces. I read somewhere it's a little better to have this type of filter?

IMO it really makes no difference what filter you use, sure some are better than others but at the end of the day as long as you regularly change your oil and filter I can’t see you having any problems. Obviously you’re stuck on the filters with the cap so get them and end of story.

Thanks for clarification of the end caps. I have seen these TRD filters before but didn't recall there being end caps.

I'd bet the filter media between the standard OEM and the TRD model is the same. The TRD filter is a $9+ added cost for those ends. No oil is getting past the media in either so I question the "support" benefits?

Personally, I think it important to run a quality synthetic, change the filter each oil change, and in my case, change them every 5k and save a 10 spot on each change.

Unless there is some solid data showing benefits of the more expensive over the $4 buck version, I'll continue to buy the OEM's in bulk, on the cheap and buy me a sodee pop and a gallon of gas with the savings. :burp:

The TRD filters have the metal end caps. I was running them but seems like every time I would order one the price kept going up. I think the last time I checked they were $20 a piece. Now I run Amsoil filters which also have the metal end caps at $18 a filter. They look very similar to the TRD ones except without TRD stamped on the cap. I believe the oem ones would be fine if you change your oil more often.

I really like the performance of the Amsoil EA15K01-EA (made by Wix) for my '16 TRD OR. I bought two cases of 12 during a promotion + member pricing in 2019 and am all set for quite a while.

Amsoil filters are made to their specs by a few different companies: Donaldson, Hastings/Baldwin, Champion, and Wix. I have always been satisfied with all their products.

TRD filters have green O-rings which makes it totally worth it.

I just replaced a TRD filter and I can really tell the difference compared to the OEM black ones.

You've been buying imposters! Factory says RED O-rings, thusly adding about 5.3 HP.
