dont know if this was asked- are ANY performance gains had WITHOUT tuning?

 

Lots would have to not show for me to get in this round but fingers crossed.

 

and if tw alerts are hit and miss (like me) you can usually count on another hombre to tag you quickly.

You're tuned so you're good. The computer adapts pretty quickly to them so tuning is not really needed.

 

great feedback! yeah, just wasnt sure if it was tuning elective. any other advice? do they come out easy cold or warm? any other forewarnings?

 

If you are doing it on a hot engine watch your freaking fingers because the surrounding metal is hot as shit!

As for other tips, disconnect the CMP plugs for easier access, it's not required but it sure does make things easier.

So remove the intake, unbolt the TB and move it aside, disconnect the surrounding plugs in the area, 2 10mm bolts, remove, replace, reverse for install and you're done.

Get you a racheting 10mm combo wrench and it makes like INSANELY easy.

I got the procedure down to like 5 or 10 minutes by the end of it all since I took them off and put them back on so many freaking times.

@who done it wants to know if these solenoids will fit the gen 2 1GR dual VVTi trucks. I can't remember personally. Maybe someone else can answer that for me?

 

Dual VVTi like the 4runners 1gr? I didn't think that any 1gr Tacoma came with dual VVTi. Only intake side.
