I always run ECT mode in the snow, or even in the rain. Since it is running higher rpms, you are less likely to get a sudden downshift and the associated traction killing torque jump.

Noticing that my Original Wrangler All Season Tires which are not snow rated are slipping in corners coming home on the packed snow! I puckered up a little in a long curve at about 40 MPH and was glad I was not going a couple mile per hour faster! Next couple days I will have my Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tires on which are 3 Peak Mountain Winter Snow/Ice Rated tires. So soon I will have first hand reports on how they do cause our roads will still be the same for a long time. They will be tested on hills, curves, asphalt, gravel and dirt covered in snow, slush and ice. Stopping and starting too on some nasty stuff. A few more 200 mile drives too at 60 MPH plus in rain, snow, ice and dry roads. I will be honest about how they are doing.

 

The wranglers that come on the OR are all terrains and are noticeably better on snow than the all seasons that came on my 2016 SR5.

 

I looked my originals up on the Good Year site too my originals are not snow rated no markings of M&S or the 3 Peaks. Just All Season on the tires. They will be great this summer. Don't want to wear out the softer new Pirelli's on hot roads. I will look one more time real close near the rim as some may have it. Just looked at them again. There "Goodyear Wrangler Territory AT" so not winter Rated just "All Season" but there are Goodyear Wrangler Tires that are but a different name on them.

 

No mountain snow flake no, but they are all terrains not all seasons. M&S is for mud terrains. My Dick Cepaks have that rating and they are comparable to the wranglers in snow on the road. The mud terrains might have an advantage in deep snow due to 2” more diameter and tread design.

I had a similar experience last night North of Toronto Ontario. I went to store my boat at a farm where I rent space at the back of a field that can be pretty muddy so I had on Kumho MT tires (I usually have bridgestome Blizzaks on all winter but it has been warmer than usual) I was caught in sticky wet snow coming home. The MT tires were terrible on the road. Putting on the Blizzaks today. The sensor always slushes up in the winter and I've never given it much thought but I wonder if rainX or some other non-stick product might eliminate that?

 

I have some Rain X for Plastic use it on my Lexan Windshield on my Tractor. I will give it a shot and see how it works!! Thanks

 

I’ve never had a vehicle with led headlights and when I took my 22 for a drive in a small wet snowstorm last night the headlights were almost useless after 30 minutes or so of driving around…the duratracs did great as always though. I’m gonna try some Rainx on the housings and remember to apply it in winter months! the Portland area hardly gets snow though so it shouldn’t be a big deal

 

I love the pics with big snow clumps. Very cool. Finally getting good snow here in MT. We need it. This is my third winter on my Falkens. Hope they are still ok in snow. I’ve been thinking about getting the Blissaks though. Or even better studded snows.

 

I run blizzaks, best winter tire in my opinion. They're a must for my area. Wish snows where mandatory for all vehicles like in Quebec

 

Man I love my new winter rated tires!! Tested them out coming home. Got up to 60 MPH and over 50 where I was nervosa at 40 MPH! I am sure if I was stupid I could spin out but I tried and it just grabbed I would say 50% better on ice! I could punch it and still not spin very Happy!!!

 

I like being able to put them on when I deem it neccessary in Ontario. I lived in Quebec and sometimes the date comes that requires snow tires by law but the cold weather doesn't get the memo and is late to arrive. I do wish Ontario had some requirement too though. To many citiots think they don't need the traction in Toronto.

 

Jeez, I have had my 2017 since December 2016, so the 5th winter and has been a great truck for snow drives. Of course no radar, but I never use Cruse Control in snowy conditions. Can't recall having a issue with the headlights, maybe LED vs Halogen.

If you get a winter tire discount from your insurance they will dictate the date - most people don’t even know that. Get into a jam while not on winter rubber past that date and get laughed away by your provider.

I have always and will always run dedicated winters on all my vehicles.

 

this is what I use as well, ski edges haven’t sliced them up yet. Put 200 lbs over the rear axle and seems to do well. Tempted to throw a couple more bags back there but bed space is at a premium. How much do you use?

also, for the rare headlight or sensor frost-overs, I carry a few individually wrapped rain-x cloths in my cab. You probably don’t need to install headlight wipers for a once per year weather event.

 

Question those Yellow Fogs is that a plug and play set up don't have to cut the body to put them in? I like them and would put some on my wife's truck. Saw a few with them lite up and there brite! If so where do you get them on line. Thanks.
