For the record. I am helping my friend with this project. . Less on that currently, as I am still fabricating his 2TR turbo manifold. Just need to fuse it all back together now.

The friction material doesn't last as long as other brands. Similarly with the Competition Clutch brand, for the Tacomas. I am a huge advocate for SPEC Clutch. The price is more than worth it. ACT, Excedy, or other top names as well.

3. That seashell shaped thing should be very interesting to say the least‼️ Stupid question anyway to brace it up? The ones I’ve seen before crack over time even with using 304 Stainless. Maybe because of small hyper sonic vibrations from the seashell?

2. A little something out of a recently crashed Camaro.

3. Stainless pipe. Thick and strong. Maybe a brace on a different build, but for this one, no bracing necessary. Low boost, and meant for a daily driven street work truck. It it were jumping and racing. Pushing limits, then braces would be added as well.

DAMN I can’t believe I didn’t recognize… So may I ask what that Camaro boat anchor is going in? Hopefully the boat anchor with have roll your own oar behind it.

 

It is the LS3. He's getting frisky too. Already dreaming of plans to turbo it, and it's only on the engine stand. Lol.

For the record, he is using the SIKKY swap kit, to mate that LS3 to his BRZ.

 

Man if you could point that whirly boy right at the throttle body by clocking that flange all would be right in the world

Got the 2tr-fe manifold finished up last Saturday. Got to order some more fittings for the oil feed. Weld a bung into the oil pan, make the down pipe, and then connect the intake. No additional photos of the manifold, other than what I already posted in the Turbo B.S. thread. Of it nearly completed. I'll add it here as well.

May I ask what material it’s made from? Stainless or ?…
Going to get the manifold/s ceramic coated? Don’t know how ceramic works so well but it does help keep temps down in the engine bay.

 

He may get the header coated. He may wrap it. Both ideas are being floated.

The bends, merge, and flanges are 304 stainless. The straights ate 321. The rods are 308 and 347.

For the BRZ, there is a large tapped hole at the front of the engine. Good 2nd point for hoisting. He went to the hardware store and purchased a 14mm x 1.5 x 100mm bolt, to fit. Then a double pass welded a shackle to the bolt.

Between his car, and some Jeep engine mounts, it's been a busy night for us.

 

Got the transmission out of the BRZ last night. The 2TR Taco has to run errands while that car is down, so should be able to mock-up the turbo and down-pipe this coming week.

In the mean time, finally getting around to mocking up the Garrett turbo intercooler for installation. Been slacking big time on that, since I welded the end tanks on.

 

Cold front coming through today, really slowed progress. Did what I could to make some minor improvements. This cross support needed some support itself. TIG brazed silicon bronze on some 18 gauge stainless. Prepped the metal with muriatic acid after removing the paint. Made it super easy to weld without zinc splatter ,or whatever they use. There are a couple other spots on the course support near where the radiator mounthere's a radiator mounts that have cracks and also need to be reinforced.



Also worked on the aluminum angle which holds the oil cooler. New slightly lower holes. Added in stainless rivnuts. Tuesday I'll finish that up, then can get to the mounting supports for the intercooler.

I had no idea that the cross brace needed to be “Modified” to fit the intercooler for the URD kit! God I was so pissed as I was watching the ends to see how close they were going to be to the headlights then I hear the sheet metal dig into the aluminum fins on the intercooler. Good thing dad showed me how to use a hammer and dolly for doing bodywork. I should have known just by looking but I didn’t think & thought the instructions would have just said a little something. I ended up removing the front facia / bumper and if I remember correctly the instructions said the bumper didn’t need removed so I thought there would be all kinds of room. I was just mounting the hard parts to get a head start on the install and this was the first part I started on. Not a good start…

 

"I mod my mods," is a quote of mine. For those exact reasons you mention.

With this intercooler however. It is narrower/thinner, and has the room to fit behind that cross-brace without it needing a hammer massage. It's height and width make up for that though....sounds like an innuendo.... lol

 

Y'all just need a bumper with a winch. You have to cut the center out of that brace to clear the winch solenoid.

 

That would escalate quickly into lift, tires, and gears..... That's a ripple I am not ready for. Lol.
