Divide the advertised gun capacity in half if you are storing ARs or similar guns with pistol grips and rail mounted items.

Looks almost like mine did except dickmod! That’s an interesting grip, is it super comfortable?

Yes that grip is perfect for a AR Pistol. It is a discontinued Pachmayr grip. It has a very heavy adapter under the rubber. That's probably why they stopped making it.

The finger groves in the grip help with the massive recoil of the 9mm. :D

I have the pick and pull foam in my Academy hard case. I marked around everything with a sharpie and used an electric carving knife to cut the foam out. Case is still in storage from moving or I would take a picture

I think I'm going to replace that bottom "pluck & pull" foam with the corrugated type (or whatever it's called) like on the top of the case. Initially I thought I wanted a dedicated case, but after thinking about it, I want to be able to use the case for any number of rifles. I've found some retailers that sell those pieces.

That’s a great option the egg crate foam should be pretty cheap. I like the cut out cases I don’t think anything could be more secure but I’ll have several rifles I’d like to use in it and I’m not buying seperated cases for each rifle

    Same crap everyone else got
This is my Liberty Revolution 18. Pretty budget "safe". I bought it for $200 and it has 11 "long guns" in it now and there is no way 7 more are fitting in there. I have room for probably 2 more maybe without using something like rifle rods.

Fire ratings are nice and all but if you've ever seen a gun safe survive a fire, the guns inside even though they didn't completely melt are basically useless after it. And any thief with enough time will get into a safe if they have tools.

Security should be done in layers to prevent them from having that much time. And an insurance policy for your guns isn't a bad idea if you reach the point of having enough value in them to warrant one.

Most safe the average person has is to keep kids out and the average snatch and grab home burglary.

As with all thing, just set your expectation to align with your cost and needs.

    Just my .02

Yeah, the only safes that are truly rated for fire are lined with concrete and weigh a couple thousand pounds. Like you said, that's what insurance is for.

Yeah I've kinda resigned to the fact that really no matter what I were to spend on a safe it is merely a deterrent and where there's a will there's a way into pretty much any of them.

So I'm just going to go the with something CA approved,(incase the fed passes some kind of safe storage law :jerkoff: then affordable but heavy and bolt it to the floor and have it in a location getting to it with tools is not easy. Protection from smash and grab type burglaries etc. Not crazy concerned about fire rating(interior sprinkler system) should in theory keep heat down until FD arrives and ruin everything else in the house in the process. Will put important docs inside another fire rated box inside the safe for the redundant protection.

I'm a simple "honest" guy. I served my country for 24 years, and in the process, learned a bunch about "locksmithing." A safe is a deterrent to the uneducated. A fireproof safe is a VERY short term remedy for a mistake. I fully agree that "fire rating" is still going to result in your ready cash will be ash and your plastic pistols will be slag. As a "fireman," I've seen it first hand. Put your important documents in a Safety Deposit Box which is covered by fire suppression, and insure the guns in your safe, as you would your house and your belongings.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Ended up swinging by Costco and grabbed a nice deal there. Sanctuary Reserve Executive for $500. Better rating in every aspect than the others I was looking at, and a bit cheaper. It even has built in interior LED lighting. Not bad.
