Confirmed the truck is indeed being eaten by a leaky battery.

Working now to clean the area and at least mitigate further damage. Picking up some fluid film tonight to apply tomorrow since it's way too wet/cold outside for undercoating sprays to be within spec for application, so it'll have to just be greased up until the spring.

Lesson learned: open the hood more frequently than every couple months.

 

Now talk to toyota about it and see what they will do for you. You have video and photo showing it. Toyota should take care of it.

Can confirm that pepper spray cans will explode in your vehicle during the dead of summer in direct sunlight. Happened to my friend (in San Fernando Valley, CA) who came back to a spicy surprise coating on the inside of her truck......

 

I saved this one for a week or two until I had enough patience to put the small cement lettering and decals in place. Wasn’t bad with soapy water.

I miss the larger cubby in the bed of the 2nd Gen as that is where I stored my bear spray I carry for work. I won't have that stuff in the cab.

Late eighties, when field crews first started carrying bear spray, one went off in a helicopter in flight. Everybody died.

 

Edit: Almost forgot the power jumper, it was from wife also. Nothing spectacular, but a few bits that i got early for Christmas. Hondo garage AR15 radio knobs, para cord grab handles for passengers from the wife. Picked up the bulbs at Wal-Mart today.

 

Bear spray is kinda pricey. I imagine if one went off in a car full of drunk rednecks on a Saturday night, hilarity would ensue.

Super glad to get rid of the OEM halogen headlights. Still need to adjust the aim as the beam seems to be a little low.


Also installed DRT Fabrication bed stiffeners.

So I drove up the Corona, CA. warehouse to meet Dustin at FN Wheels and picked up a set of four Fx Pro’s 16x8 in matte black, plus a spare from a pallet of spare rims with VERY minor issues that he just sold to me at cost (it’s nice to see a guy who appreciates detail the way Dustin does). I went up there two weeks ago Saturday and am just now getting around to installing them. I’ll post the installed pics when it’s finally done. Dustin is a really good dude and it was super cool to hang with him for a bit.
