    Hey all,
My mother-in-law is coming into town and we were meant to see Elf at the Arvada center, it was our gift to her, but a cast member got COVID and the play has been canceled for the season. Does anyone know of any events, that still has tickets, that we could bring her to? Plays, snow tubing, winter in Colorado, anything really.
Would appreciate any ideas or leads.

Any health insurance guru's here? Need temp coverage for my 6 month old daughter.

My company has terminated my daughter's coverage for failing to turn in her proof of birth document. Though I had sent it in already for my paternity leave, they said it had to be submitted through my change in benefits portal thing. At the same time I was adding my fiancé, but needed an insane number of docs and requirements as a domestic partnership to prove we meet the requirements. Knew we wouldn't get them submitted in time since we'd have to change wills, life insurance plans, retirement accounts, etc but I didn't think they would take our daughters coverage away. I appealed the coverage 3 days after the deadline, and they still denied it. I went to my HR who talked to the corp benefits people and they even denied my appeal saying I should have paid closer attention.

So, hoping someone might have some insight on coverage just until I can get add her to mine once our enrollment opens up in May. I don't want to pay an assload amount for her monthly checkups.

Not the "guru" or expert you're looking for but......
You might be surprised. Cash price for a lot of things is less than what you'd pay out of pocket with coinsurance.
It's a near certainty that what you pay in premiums between now and May will be greater than any "benefits" received.

Thanks I appreciate it, I called the pediatrician to get cost breakdowns of her upcoming visits. We're all very healthy so paying for her monthly checkups for now seems like the best option. I have a solid IBA through work and with never needing doctor visits (knock on wood) I get to pocket what isn't used at the end of the year. And coverages we have had to use I've never had an issue. I'm just so surprised my company is so against taking care of a few days late mistake and telling me to pound sand instead of just doing the right thing to take care of their employees and families.

I'm a subsidiary of the company we fall under so my benefits are different from the corp side, which are much better, however corp still handles it which sucks. So my role, salary and benie's are why I'm still here, I don't fall directly under corp

So apparently in Colorado, if your negligent neighbors tree falls on you, your vehicles or your house, they are not liable. Their tree can absolutely crush your home and fuck your life up, and not be responsible. Neighbor has decided he's not gonna do anything about it. Not paying for parts and refusing to trim/cut down tree. He's in his 90's, and prolly gonna die pretty soon, so he don't give a fuck.

Since the fuckin tree is about to crush my house, and not wanting to be in it when it does, I've made the tough decision to sell it and move. Was thinking of the RV gig for a long time. Now looking at cabin properties up in Glacier View.
No cottonwood trees up there. At least I'll still own property that will continue to appreciate and can sell again later.
I get to retire early and be a hermit.

Fuuuck that! I’d make that guys hell until he agrees to cut it down.

Quick, what do old people hate? I know! Go stand on his lawn until he agrees to cut it down!

Seriously though, I’d be having some loud ass house parties with the speakers pointed right at his house.

Last thing I want is a confrontation ending with the old guy croaking off in front of me. That might begat more issues.

Just call you insurance and file with them. Explain you feel it is negligent upkeep by the neighbor. Let them handle it. That is why you pay for it.

I talked with them on Friday. That's how I found all this out.
Even though my ins has to pay out if the thing falls, it's not out of their pocket. Farmers picks up the tab, i pay deductible and am displaced and inconvenienced thru the whole ordeal. Fuck it, I'm moving. Been here 22 years, could use a change of scenery.

    Two properties I'm looking at.
One is all electric with a wood stove for supplemental/ main heat source.
The other is electric with a propane tank that must be filled twice or more a year. No wood stove.
Kind of leaning towards the all electric and wood stove option.
Both properties are roughly similar in size. Not having to deal with propane is nice.
Going off grid in the all electric with solar is tempting.
Both on a well with septic/leach field. Trying to minimize my monthly expenses.
The propane powered unit is at the end of the road and backs to NF land.
The all electric is in the middle of a development.
    Pros and cons with both...

Or I could get 7 empty acres (with a spring) that backs to NF land, for 1/3 of the cost of the other two, put a modest 40' x 40' shell on it and park a cheap RV inside it. HOA up there says no visible RV's for longer than 6 months. Garaging the RV is the workaround that most use for year around living. And then go off grid. Go full hippy

yes, for the most part. Maybe. That may be an overall deal breaker, depending on the restrictions. I dunno.
