It's just Cajun-style (aka Blackened).

Been off TW for about a month. Looks like I missed some good polls. Looks like there was one about fruitcake, which I love. My dad makes it using his mom's recipe.

In other news, the batteries for my solar system finally showed up, so they almost finished up the install. The installers still need to test the system and the power company has to inspect it before it can come online. The call before you dig people failed to mark anything in my backyard between the house and shop. The installers yolo'ed it and trenches anyways. They almost hit my sewer line and did trench through a perforated pipe that let's the gutters drain away from the house and the water and gas line into the shop. Luckily, the gas line was off at the meter. They repaired the water line, but they need to get someone else out to fix the gas line. They also didn’t completely refill the trench, so they have to finish that whenever they make it out again.

I believe the "call before you dig" people are only responsible for marking the underground pipes and wires up to the meter.
From street to meter -- yes
    Municipal sewer -- yes
House to garage -- on your own
Private septic system -- on your own

The solar company is the one that called to have them mark utilities.

They marked to the house, except for sewer. If they're not going to mark past the meter, what's the point of calling to have stuff marked if you know for a fact there are utilities in the area of interest but not from the provider to meter. Sounds like a pretty big failure of the whole concept/system.

It is paid for by the utility companies, they are only really concerned about reliability/liability on their systems. If you dig up the wires between your house and garage it trips your breaker not theirs. I guess knowing where 1/2 of the utilities are is better than nothing.

Well, our shop vise has had enough. The spindle nut is available for five bucks online, but the spindle is discontinued unobtanium. It's a Wilton 648B vise, if anybody has one kicking around that I can buy the spindle from... 3286A927-A2C5-45F0-95C8-7EC9E0BF5256.jpg5F29DC5B-0D7D-47DE-90D9-3C1F924AD678.jpg F25EEC15-065A-4516-9BDC-21D89260D9CC.jpg

It's always nice to discover you can't count and then realize you have 20 hours of vacation left that you can take. It's been a busy morning (scheduling vacation), I need another cup of coffee.
