Looks good! What's your tie to the Continental Divide Trail, I need one of those! I rode all of it on my mountain bike so it's got a special spot in my life, such a beautiful route, deserves a road trip in a Taco.

    14" 650 lb springs.

It's not a spring issue, its a damping issue. They need to soften the initial part of the stroke.

Just installed FN Wheels Fx Pros 16x8 on my 285/75R16 TOYO Open Country A/T III’s with the Gorilla black spline extended lugs. They turned out great. I would’ve went with the TRD Pros but I wanted the pattern that was only offered on the 17” so Dustin came through with these and for less $. I definitely recommend FN Wheels. Dustin is a stand up guy and he will take care of you. Now I got some trimming to do because they rub at full articulation.

Just got my Tacoma! I’ve heard it needs a tune right off the lot, but I couldn’t believe the magnitude of highway performance loss from getting slightly heavier wheels and bigger tires (bigger and heavier than OEM, but still smaller than 32”). I’m glad to hear there’s hope for keeping it at a steady highway speed. Now that I’ve got 1000 miles on it, I can’t wait to get a tune.

Gotta remember, rotational weight has a larger impact than static sprung weight. I'm not ready to purchase them yet, but I'm doing research to find lighter wheel and tire combos that won't fold like a house of cards when getting within sneezing distance of an off-road trail. Gonna have to pay a premium for the best of both worlds though.

Agreed. I didn’t deep dive the lightest possible setup I could find for what I’m planning to do with the truck short-term. I did pick the lightest wheel out of the ones I was interested in, which was the Summit Dakar (23.5 lbs). The other contenders were SCS Ray10s at 25lb 14oz, and Relation Race Wheels RR7s at 27lbs. Paired with the lightest KO2s at 265/70/17. Not my ideal setup for heavy use, but okay for now.

You shouldn't have to aim the headlights from simply switching bulbs assuming they were already aimed properly. The bulbs only go in one way and lock. Can't screw that up.

Good looking wheels. They seem to be only a half-pound heavier than OEM so the performance hit had to be the tires. They are 11lbs heavier per tire, and all of that weight is out at the outer edge where it has the highest impact due to leverage.

That's not entirely correct. The LED Bulb often rotates relative to the base so that they can be properly aligned within the housing regardless of which direction the plug needs to face. OEM bulbs emit omnidirectional light so they can go in at any angle, and OEMs can face the plug in any direction because of that. LED's do not, so they have to be adjusted for each application.

While not specific to Tacomas, Flyin Miata did a pretty good video showing the problem and the solution:

Leer shell, Bilstein 5100 shocks, AAL in rear (2 inch lift), 16" Method 305NV wheels, 285-75-r16 Cooper Discoverer AT3/XLT; grab handle on driver side so I can ACTUALLY GET IN AND OUT WITHOUT RUINING MY LEATHER SEATS lol
So if I'm not seeing any of this at this point on my 2018, I'm fine right? Not gonna fix what ain't broke just to potentially cause a new problem

Everyone sorta has to make this decision themselves, but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. :)

Pretty cool product. Anxious to hear about it. Also interested in the difference in the sound once the speaker is somewhat covered up.
