    When a Federal holiday falls on a weekend Federal law requires gov employees receive a workday 'observed holiday' off work. Most private employers follow this policy as well.

    As someone who works weekends, it has fucked me in the ass this year. July 4, Dec 25, and 1/1/22 are all Saturdays. The 'observed holiday' during the week is a day I would have off regularly anyway and then I get stuck working the true holiday when everyone gets together.
