I did a job on a private ranch about a mile from there - trails were fun, but those fluff fields of dead grass and dry dirt were something this East Coast guy wasn't really ready for.

Calico Mine area, north of Barstow, California. Went out with my cousin and his Jeep club. About 12 or 13 Wranglers and Gladiators on 37's, and me in my Tacoma. By the afternoon, everyone was blown away by how capable the Taco is (I did every obstacle that they did, and hung with them every step of the way). Thankfully I had developed some rapport with the group throughout the day, because I decided it was a great idea to snap my right ankle like a twig when we were exploring down inside of a mine after we stopped for lunch. A few of the guys helped me hike back out to my truck, and we splinted it up using a Sam Splint that I keep in my med bag. I drove myself and my 9 year old son off of the trail, and my cousin drove my truck the rest of the way back home (about 3 hours) while I sat in the back seat with my leg propped up. Definitely not the kind of adventure I was hoping to have, but I'm glad we got back safely and didn't need to be "rescued" off of the mountain.image000001.jpg

Drove the Apache Trail--North East of Apache Junction, AZ--at least the part that is open. Took a few side trips off the main road.

Care to share the name and specs on those awesome rugged looking hunting tents you have popped up there? That looks like a great set up.

Yessir! Those are jumping jacks, made in Salt Lake City. 6x8 utility. My wife and I ditched our rtt after three years, and glad we did. Rtt was fun, but it just wasn’t going to work for our growing family. It’s basically a pop-up wall tent. I’ve had this thing on some gnarly trails for a lot of miles to get to remote hunting camps, and it’s never skipped a beat. They’re actually built as toy haulers and this model holds around 2500 lbs on top for utvs, atvs, gear, etc. Check em out! https://www.jumpingjacktrailers.com/

edit: forgot to add that the winds we went through last week gusted to 60+ In a blizzard, and it handled it perfect. For heat we use a 20lbs lp tank attached to a mr heater with a 12 ft hose. Alright, fanboy rant over now lol!

damn dude nice pics. Sorry about your fibula. You getting a plate installed on that? Make sure it’s TRD! I shattered my fibula and part of my tibia 5 months ago and had to have surgery with plates and screws. Life is finally back to normal but the recovery is a biatch! Be patient. Looks like your driving leg too. Bummer.

    Looks like good times!
You should try the KA-BAR spork/knife, they are cheap, sturdy, and useful. I bought a couple of the multi packs and put a couple in each vehicle and my EDC bag.
