Oh yeah, just have to burn a bunch of gas out of my tank so I can drop it and change out the fuel pump. Probably be this weekend and I'll have everything installed, then have Gabe get the tune all set up. Thanks again John, it was great to meet you and pick your brain for awhile!!

@1997tacomav6 I just sold my 7th injector setup and will be switching over to the Haltech 2000 soon. I’m currently using the deatschwerks dw100 fuel pump from URD, think that’ll be enough fuel or will I need to do the 340 fuel pump as well?

Every truck is different, so it’s hard to say,
But with the 340 PUMP ( ethanol friendly) that I put in I am able to run my stock injectors with no issues and was actually running very rich at
9 AFR and had to be tuned back through the haltech ECU to get the AFR correct.
I’m still at 10 AFR running rich at the higher rpm’s, lower rpm’s are 11, so need to get my map fine tuned still when I fine some time.
But I had my injectors cleaned and serviced, new fuel filter, new 340 LPH AEM pump

    Stuff and junk and things...
that's a 164 LPH pump, it will be more than enough for what our trucks need.

I put a 255LPH DW in only because it's the same price as the DW100.

The 340LPH pump is IMO way over kill and recirculating a ton of fuel back to the tank from the pressure regulator.

If the 340lph is recirculating a ton of fuel in YOUR opinion back into the fuel tank, then the fuel pump would be running all the time, correct?
When I turn the key on to the power position you can hear the pump running for a few seconds, gets up to pressure and then stops.
The AEM is rated at 40 PSI. If it was rated higher then yes it would be cycling back continuously.
If it was putting out to much pressure over 40 PSI it would be running continuously.
Correct? or am I missing something?
The AEM 340 pump I got at advanced auto parts with my internet discount for 95.00.
The only time I hear the pump is at startup for a few seconds.
340lph might be over kill, I don’t know 100 percent but it’s working for me with stock injectors with no need for methanol for fuel with a 1.9” pulley.

With the haltech you can modify your fuel map to make it perfect.
    Stock ECU you can’t.

ALSO MAKE SURE you use a gasoline resistant shrink wrap for the wire connectors for the fuel pump.

the harbor freight type will fall apart.

GABE told me to get the AEM 340 pump BTW

I am curious if it matters (or not) how much the wideband sensor should be exposed to the exhaust gas flow in the pipe to be most effective and have the most accurate readings.

Here are the two bungs I have.

The one on the left was supplied by Innovate in the PSB-1 wideband gauge kit. And the one on the right is from the Haltech kit. Obviously quite different. If used as is, these will result in a difference in how the tip of the sensor is exposed to the exhaust flow.

Here is the sensor mounted in the Haltech bung:

    Haltech Senson in Bung.jpg

And here is what it looks like with the bung mounted on the exhaust pipe with the sensor in place:

    Haltech Sensor in Pipe.jpg

Here is a pic of the sensor mounted in the Innovate bung:

    Innovate Sensor in Bung.jpg

I did not mount the Innovate bung yet because I was concerned about how the deep bung would impact the performance and accuracy of the readings on the gauge if the sensor is not fully exposed in the exhaust flow.

Should I be concerned about this? If necessary, the bung could be modified so the tip of the sensor ends up in the exhaust flow, similar to the way the Haltech sensor sits.

My readings on the haltech data log for the AFR are pretty much the same as the pillar gauge.
I don’t notice much of a difference, there might be a very small different but nothing that I see on my setup.
Are they both the same length?

I believe I read the tip should stick into the main exhaust tube, though I think you'd be ok considering bung will create turbulence a bit on the inside.

I would use the Haltech one if I had a choice though.

I think you might be misinterpreting how the fuel system works.

Pumps can work at a high range of pressures and are always "ON" or "OFF". The AEM 340 up past 90psi looks like. Where it actually sits will depend on the fuel rail regulator. If it's 40PSI, it will flow 340LPH. That 340LPH isn't going through your injectors, so it's returning to the tank. It takes more cycles to compress to higher pressures, so the flow rate suffers.

Yeah, I will definitely be using the Haltech one and that bung is already welded in. And I would like to use the Innovate one, as is, but was concerned with how the sensor for the A/F gauge would not be exposed in the same way as the Haltech.

FWIW Innovate has a firmware level issue with O2 sensors which causes them to throw a fault code, whereby rendering it useless, that I'm not sure has been fixed (competing widebands did not have this issue). When I spoke to their technical customer service a couple years ago, it solidified my choice to never buy from them again.

i've got the itch. its just the headache of emissions. my 2001 would take FOREVER to set ready monitors. switching back and forth computers every 2 years is what stops me.

my tundra has never needed emissions and i dont know why.. i want to get my tacoma the same way!
