Rough Country Vertex coilovers???

No I’m only lifted 3.5

 

Been gone awhile as summer picked up with adventures after I installed my 3.5" setup. Here's a brief rundown of how I put it together.

3.5" Vertex Front/Rear
SPC UCAs
Icon AAL
17" KMC Canyons
285/70r17 Cooper Rugged Trek (True 33s & they did rub)

Been running this kit HARD since install. Trails 2 weekends a month, 3 trips to the dunes, a few 500+ mile trips, and a road trip to Montana to run Blacktail Wild Bill's. This kit has performed light years better than I expected it to. The only thing that gets in the way of my fun is the wheelbase of the long bed.

I have 2 issues I have encountered.

I need full leafs because the Icon AAL just isn't enough to support the Leer cap and the load, I'm already seeing sag. I've ordered a set from Oregon Spring that's comparable to the Deavers. Hindsight I should've gone full leafs from the beginning.

The other issue I encountered was busting the sway bar link on the passenger side. During my run of Blacktail Wild Bill I snapped my sway bar end link on the first obstacle, which shredded my CV boot. (And yes, I did install the swaybar spacer.) I disconnected the sway bar and put it out of the way to finish the rest of the trail. Luckily CV axles are a dime a dozen so I scored a replacement from Oreillys with my account for like $68.

If you plan on offroading, I highly recommend removing the sway bar entirely. I ripped mine out when I replaced the CV. With how well the coilovers handle i don't notice much of a difference with it gone.

I'm horrible when it comes to taking photos but here's a couple.

Still waiting on getting my Road Armor bumper installed. It takes two sets of pods, a 20" lightbar AND I'll need a switch controller.

Next to my buddy's Tundra with a 3" lift on 35s and one from a recent outing

 

looks like I’ll be able to squeeze 35’s with my 1” body lift.

 

I'd expect you'd probably still need to do a bit of trimming to fit 35s. You're gonna re-gear beforehand right?

 

Already have a CMC, a steel winch bumper (won’t have to worry about rubbing the front, just have to beat the pinch weld and an alignment to adjust the caster. Hopefully it’s enough lol!

Minus the regear lol! Really hoping the 1” body lifts makes it a little easier.

 

can you photo of how the reservoir is installed with bump stops in place?

I just recently got mine two weeks ago and I've been experiencing alot of bouncing around from mine. hasn't been the smoothest in the world has anyone have any ideas what it could be?

 

Mine was a little bouncy new referring to 6" lift bit now rides beautiful

 

Just installed the vertex 3.5s myself. So you totally removed your sway bar and haven't noticed a difference. I do a decent amount offroading and would love to get rid of my sway bar if possible. Any downsides?

 

Get rid of it, best free mod ever. I cut mine up and made a gate hinge out of it. It will be there a 100 years from now.

I ditched mine and also tow an expedition trailer through 7 to 11 different states each year. Never had a problem with excessive sway in turns or the wind. Good luck with your truck.

 

How close is the tire to touch the reservoir?

Im worried about my 35’s hitting it once installed.

 

Man that's good to hear bc we've been planning to get a little travel trailer like that and start traveling the country more now that our last kid is about to graduate. I've got a 3k mile trip to MI for the holidays we're leaving for today so I'm gonna wait until we get back, just in case, but that's definitely the first thing I'm doing. I've only gotten to put about 10 miles on these shocks so far taking it to get aligned after I installed them, so I'm eager to play around with them over the course of the next week. Mostly on road obviously but planning to get a little offroad in while we're in MI if possible.
