Just getting back to the interwebs after a long weekend. Sorry for the late response.

50w ballasts will certainly increase heat and UV/IR output to some percentage. But it is also at the cost of bulb life and potentially projector life as well. There are too many variables to say how much faster a bulb or projector will reach it's EOL and how much UV/IR increase will be. On my Victory I have a D2S 4.0 with shield mods and Morimoto 5500k bulb. Initially I used a Morimoto 50w ballast but it was actually too bright and I switched to a Hella Gen 3 35w ballast. With the 50w ballast the sharp contrast of light to darkness above the cutoff made it difficult to for me to see past the cutoff on inclines and when leaning. The high beam was insanely intense, but not enough to make up for low beam deficiencies. On a truck it wouldn't be so bad (just be ready to apologize to anyone under your cutoff though) but on a low car I would say it would be a similar affect to what I experienced on my motorcycle when using a 50w ballast.

Also, for any other readers. I am not trying to claim that I am by any stretch of the term an "expert" or a "definitive information source" on HID's or retrofits. But I have followed the retrofitting game for about 8yrs to see it's progressions and downfalls. My knowledge mostly relies upon my personal vehicles, a handful done with/for friends, mistakes I have made and the insane amount of research I have done throughout the years. I just like to share the knowledge I have and if I am wrong, then I'm glad someone calls me out on it and everyone learns from that interaction.

Long drive in some HEAVY snow. The Max fogs stayed uncovered, but my factory headlights wouldn't! Super happy to have them on there.

Gotta love some good 'ol fashioned buyer fraud... Customer buys SS3 Max Yellow Fogs from us off of Amazon. Proceeds to peel off stickers and stick them onto a set of SS3 sports and returns them citing "I wanted for a gift . But they don’t like yellow color. I ordered a white instead from Amazon too." Are you fucking kidding me? You didn't even make a good run at throwing me off your scent. Least you could have done is swap the darker lenses onto the sport bodies or something. FFS

Can't wait for the results of the investigation to come up inconclusive and I end up eating the return. :)

Was the customer's name "Grinch" by chance? I could think of a few more choice names too.

Curious if anyone has ordered Diode Dynamics SS5 pods that are scheduled for release in late January 2022?

I cannot confirm or deny an order, but a confidential source close to something, speaking on a condition of anonymity, has stated to a person close to this web site that I may or may not have placed an order. :spy:

Finally had a chance to use the DD SS3 Pro fogs on a 200km snowy flat light drive over a couple of mountain passes. Light output was as advertised but two things that really impressed were the foreground definition of ruts, snow, ice bare pavement and the how minor the affect of blowing snow from passing vehicles. Both are factors to the selective yellow output. I'm happy.

It would cost you more money, but perhaps consider mailing said "unhappy customer" a ripe cow patty as a thank-you-in-kind?

I'm waiting for the investigation from Amazon to play out before I make any moves or even share pics! Just want to make sure that nothing goes awry. I'm sure I'll still end up eating it since it's a he said, she said.

In cases like these, do you wonder if it's worth the exposure to sell on Amazon? I feel like if they bought direct from your site that you'd be able to shut that shit down pretty quickly.

Agreed. I ask that myself all of the time... I honestly wish (and have expressed) that DD didn't sell on Amazon at all. The problem is that it's a very powerful vehicle for getting out in front of folks that I simply don't have, yet. And it produces. I'll say this - If money wasn't a thing there wouldn't be a chance that I would sell there. I sell in a very limited capacity there anyway. Once I can build to where I have enough consistent business from other places I'll dip out.

Are credit card companies or paypal any different to deal with? These consumer confidence measures are at the expense of the vendors.

I ordered the SS5 crosslink lightbar from Hotshot Offroad. When I saw them mounted on that Bronco at SEMA I knew I had to have that on my roof rack

I was thinking of getting the ss5's for the sole purpose of the purple backlight. I know that's a terrible excuse and defeats their intended purpose. Maybe I'll mount them as ditch lights.
