Thank you NickJacq23 at Big Dawg tuning for getting me set up on the KDMax Pro tune this evening. It was a pleasure meeting you and your pups.
I can already feel improvements in the idle smoothness and shifting smoothness. Can't wait to stretch her legs and get some miles on it and settle it in. I'll return with a full report once that happens. A very nice early Christmas present.

How the hell did you manage that!? I am barley getting 16 MPG with 265/65R16 and a mild 2 inch lift in SLC valley....
Actually not. I put 400 miles on the pro tune for your information and was getting barley 16.... so.. ya... try again

I wish all Tacomas were created equal, but unfortunately they are not.
I see some people getting 20-23 mpg with the same 33" tires and 3" lift that I have. I get 17mpg on a good day.
That is the reason we never guarantee improved MPG's. Most do, but some do not.
I can say that the truck is running more efficiently, with improved drivability.

I would suggest running the stock tune for a few weeks to remember how it ran prior to the tune. It will blow your mind how bad it is. And my MPG's on stock were worse.

I agree, I am just at a lost why I am loosing MPG... I first flashed the pro and cleared values.... drove 400 miles averages 16. I re-flashed without clearing vales and am going to give it a a few tanks and see, then flash back to XT file to compare. I recall getting at least 18 with the xt file.

I know I am at higher elevation then most and its winter, but I am just very curious why the wild change...

I don't mean to sound like I am knocking this file, it does feel very nice for sure.

Every truck is different and MPG is never promised, but is usually a side benefit of the smoother shifting from the tune.

On mine after first tuning with KDMAX 6 I got 20-22 MPG On the first 100 miles on the way home from Birmingham, AL. I then let my buddy drive and he put the metal to it and averaged between 78-85 MPH and the tank average dropped to around 17.9 MPH.

It took about 3 full tanks of my driving for the truck to correct. Afterwards I averaged 20.5 to 21.5 MPG regularly.

I totally understand. I don't mean to sound unrealistic, just comparing to last file, its odd is all...

I agree. These trucks have one thing in common, “inconsistency “ :annoyed:But the tune fixed so many of the most annoying issues it’s definitely a win, win with it.

My truck was stock and before I was getting 18.5. - 20 MPG I gained 1 -1.5 MPG with the tune (not Pro).

I have since traded the 2018 in and now have a 2022. It will get the Pro soon

    Compiling the list!
Got the files from Kreg Sunday evening and flashed the Sport tune about an hour later. The difference between the KDMax 6 and the Pro is amazing; the truck starting idle is about 70 RPMs lower, the lurching at start was immediately gone and the shifting is buttery smooth. I'm in stop and go traffic both to and from work so I don't expect my horrible mileage to change but the drivability is phenomenal! Kreg is super helpful and will walk you through any issues you may have. Highly recommended!!

Just wanted to say that I had the opportunity to get this tune done over the weekend by none other than @cemented over here in Hawai’i.

Thanx to everyone involved here. I feel it was a worth while investment.

My trucks re-geared and I don’t use cruise control.
Let the truck gain speed on downhills and let it loose speed on the uphills without moving the gas pedal. High elevation helps mpg with less wind resistance I’ve found.

You will probably like the Normal throttle tune. But your tuner will allow you to take it for a test drive so you can get a feel for it. You may want to go up or down with the throttle choice. But the Normal setting sounds like what you want.

I got my tune done last night and have driven about 30 miles so far. I love the throttle response and it seems to feel more peppy and holds gears nicely! The only thing im noticing so far is that it doesnt like to shift into 5th or 6th very much at about 45-50mph but I imagine that will change once I go through a tank or two. I also had a weird throttle stutter but again im sure it will work itself out.

Definitely give a couple tanks of fuel thru it to let it fully learn. The tune should settle in nicely.

I haven't got the tune yet. waiting until after the holidays. Im running the wildpeaks 265/75/16 with a lift (5100s and ARB888s so about 2.5") and getting 15-15.2 mpg.
It would be nice to get a couple more MPGs.
