TRD Pro Badge on Non-TRD Pro

Well at least it’s not all caps. You know how the Karen’s get offended by all caps around here.

 

I read this and had to check to make sure the band U2 wasnt trying to force another crappy album onto our phones with no way of deleting it.

 

I didn’t realize being a Toyota master tech was a prerequisite for calling out TRD Pro owners….

 

What’s the objective of doing that?

 

I have a Mercedes AMG and I see the "poser/Fake badges" all the time on all kinds of Mercedes same for BMW M cars, SRT hellcats etc no matter what brand it is ppl want the best I guess. I would never do it but

I often wonder the same thing: why put a Ferrari kit on a Fiero (remember those?) or why put an M badge on a de-badged 3 series? Here is what I could come up with...

• Doing it pisses off all the right people, the kind that would come on a forum and create a post that galvanizes the user base - essentially saying "Watch the shit storm I create by putting a sticker on a vehicle and posting a picture on a forum, watch the level of vitriol in these threads."
• The owner likes the aesthetics of the badge or grill or parts (rims, grille, or whatever) and didn't think it was a big deal to mix and match parts
• The owner cannot afford the higher trim model but likes the look of the higher end model, doesn't need the performance of the higher end model, and just wants the look without all of the added expense and couldn't care less if the vehicle is more show than go
• The owner associates his personal worth with the model of vehicle he drives and materially misrepresents his vehicle's model to impress others
• The owner thinks a dealership will not run the VIN of his vehicle on appraisal and will take his word upon trade in that his 4x2 Taco is a TRD Pro

That is all I could come up with. Thoughts? I think the main categories are: likes the look - doesn't care what people think, cares what people think - materially misrepresents the vehicle model for ego, intentionally doing it to troll people (especially people in this thread - myself included). I love the idea of #3. Some dude sitting in his chair saying "Look at these people who share a common interest and how they speak to each other."

Don't worry, he's been banned recently for COD violations, he won't be with TW much longer, as it's clear he hasn't learned any lessons from the first banning. I've been here long enough to see these folks come and go, like the passing of seasons...

I still remember that day... we just landed in Scotland for a friends wedding. Everyone turned on their phones to see the u2 album locked onto their phones... we all thought it was some shitty "welcome to europe" promotion until we got back to the states.

I took the emblems off of mine as soon as I got it home, not because I didn't want "pro" all over the truck. But because the emblems don't have a passenger/driver side. They're the same exact emblem for both sides which makes one just look weird to me. One side looks good and flows with the vehicle, the other just looked out of place. If they had a set that had passenger/driver specific side that were basically mirrored images of eachother I'd probably have kept them on!

I never planned on getting a PRO but couldn't pass up the deal on mine (used with less than 6000 miles on it by an older lady, I bought it before the covid crap/price gouging).

I hated the wheels at first, but they've grown on me. Just need new tires and I'll be g2g!
