Is our beautiful day dawdling around in the Hill Country? This South breeze isn't supposed to be chilly!

Well, the good news is all the putz there was to putz on my list was done by noon or thereabouts.
See this mounting bracket? Well, turns out it's unique to one brand, and they don't sell it separate. And I have extra baskets I need to use. I could have cut up some different ones, and try to modify slots, but probably not worth the effort.

    20211223_112043.jpg

But, I gots' some insulated clamps, and dadgummit, I will use those.

    20211223_112035.jpg

and now my new pizza stones can hang out in the shed as planned.

    20211223_112548.jpg

And I got several coats of primer/paint on the new hitch bar. I'll gloss it up tomorrow.

Now, that leaves me a bunch more time than I planned. Maybe, I should tackle the shocks. All the parts are here......

And the bad news? Well, my 4 hours of truck labor don't work out like @BassAckwards .

I found some 4x4 chunks, got my jack, stands, and chocks, and got the wheel and old shock off no problemo! Probably since they had been removed last weekend! First slowdown wasn't major, just took a bit to get it done. The bushings in the rubber tops of the eyelets are juuuuuuuuust too wide to go in the adapter. Mr. Crowbar, and Mr. Vise got that done.

    20211223_155129.jpg

Slowed me down, but I can still move on. Only to find that the bushings supplied for the bottom eyelet are also too wide for the bracket - not to mention hard as heck to thread on. So, apply the crowbar as far as I can.

No dice. I tried the Ag spacers and such at Ace, but who makes a tiny spacer, for a big ass bolt? No one. Our Auto Parts stores have the Dorman racks, and that's all except special big bolts. So, tomorrow I measure, grind some, and use the machine bushings I bought to keep things smooth if I need.

    Oh well....

Ive had lots of practice lol. Its just muscle memory
    looking good!
Dang kurt those are some fancy shocks but what a pain to get them to fit. Whats the story on these? Did they not send you the proper hardware? Keep at it. Youll find the perfect combo eventually

Yeah im liking it so far, the pedal is much lighter. The pedal on my URD was a bear to push in. This one i could probably live with in traffic

    Washer or sleeve?
Old stlye fender/body mount washers are thin and probably large enough for this.

Yeah, I am kind of disappointed that there were no instructions, barely any on-line (and they don't show the spacers). I find that if I order the RESI shocks, I could have had stud mounts, but not for any smoothies. Since all the on-line pics are so damn generic, I just figured what was recommended to me was the right stuff. There is a pretty big price difference between Resi & Smoothie too. For the front, Resi was really the only choice.

The only hardware supplied were the rubber bushings with inserts on the top (in place), and the two spacer bushings wired to the bottom. I CAN figure out myself that they are to keep the eyelet centered in the mounts.

I think what I am going to do tomorrow, since I have to crawl down there to do anything; is to feed the bolt through the mount, insert one spacer - through the eyelet - then put the machine bushings in one by one until I have some spacer action. You can see the bushing sits somewhat inside the eyelet. I may just grind one bushing per side down to ride in the eyelet. A few mm off center on the bottom mount won't matter.

Good morning everyone. My oldest daughter flew in Wed night. We all went to Sea World last night for the little ones to see Santa. We watched some shows and enjoyed the lights. Tonight we tackle Botanical Gardens followed by getting all the presents unhidden and under the tree. Merry Christmas Eve everyone!
