Mountain bikers, especially in the last 5+ years, are even worse. Riding around every rock, root or not smooth obstacle causing the trail margins to get wider in those places. Wouldn't want to go over any unnecessary bumps on a mountain bike! The trail stewards/managers are not much better. Adding berms everywhere because it's cool! Much of the current trail design, for the most part, gives no thought given to erosion, hydrology, or ecological management of the immediately nearby environment. I don't know if it's all the new riders fucking it all up or if it's a gradual thing that I just didn't notice until the last few years.

Good job on making this political.

When you figure out a more effective way, please let everyone know.

Like anything, some care and some don't. That's why the dunes in CA got reduced in size significantly for offroad use

My first offroad adventure I was dragged out in my stock XJ. All I did was either polish the challenges up, or bypass them on the green space.

Peer pressure and social media are the worst for ruining trails.

Now I never ever go off the path and I turn around if the going gets REALLY bad.

Not sure what your watching but everything I've seen are people running established trails, I do agree that going off trail is a definite no and there should be big fines if your out destroying the alpine or other areas.

These same people complain when it takes search and rescue 45 minutes to get to them. Faster idiots just get further into the woods before damaging themselves and others.

SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
Our club, Two Trackers 4 Wheel Drive Club, in Grand Rapids, MI is a dedicated Tread Lightly family friendly club. 100% of our outings and events are following those guidelines. We provide service projects throughout the year to clean up trails, work with the DNR to improve and maintain safe trails, and we teach the new members what it means to Tread Lightly. When we need "wilder" trails we go to one of many dedicated parks for our use in Michigan and down to Kentucky. We are affiliated with TreadLightly org itself - as the OP said this is critical for our continued access to trails and enjoying them with our trucks, so do NOT ruin it for the rest of us!

Illegality does provide for consequences that are unavailable when the activity is legal. For some consequences can be a deterrent, for others consequences can be a challenge.

I live in Southern NH and the power lines have a right of way through my property. I see this behavior all the time. It's side by sides or dirt bikes and the occasional 4 wheeler ripping shit up. Pisses me off! Trucks go low and slow.

That's quite a statement that can't be supported with any sort of info or data, but thanks for sharing your opinion.
