Whats the differences between all of the 2nd Gen Tacoma's?
    -Like a 2007 to the new 2011's?
Can someone give me a break down?

EDIT : There is more correct info below. RTMFT

Nothing major (engines, drive trains). Mostly cosmetic interior.

2011's have a different cupholder in the automatics compared to the 2010.
Also late model 2011's have some slight guage cluster changes.

In ~2007 Toyota started reinforcing the engine mounts.

I think in 2007 or 2009 Toyota stopped the option for locking rear diffs in the Sport model.
Then they added a fancier brakes controller and traction system to the OR.
Also the access cabs changed their rear seats to be more seat like and less utilitarian some where around 2008-2009.

Thats all that comes to my mind. Someone will chime in with better years, hopefully this is a catalyst

OP. You're 14. You can afford to wait a few years still. By the time you're old enough to purchase your own vehicle, the 3rd gen will be out.

It's good to have dreams, but don't bank on them. I suggest that for your first vehicle, your dad should buy you a beater hatchback or something of that sort. That way, you can get used to taking care of a vehicle, without doing serious damage and/or mistakes to your brand new precious.

Edit: This is wrong info. I apologise.... lol...

Oh my, I do feel kind of dumb now. I'm used to seeing a person's age on the left there, and reading "my dad". So I put 2 and 2 together and came up with 7?

    OP I do apologise >_<

Mid 2006 was when the engine mounts were changed.
Sports never had a locking differential option it was a limited slip, discontinued in 2009 when the STAR safety system became standard.
2009 there were grill changed instead of plain black plastic it was painted some stupid gray colour. Access cab was also changed in 2009 to the new stupid design.
ATRAC started in 2009 for TRD OFF ROAD
2011 grill was changed and cup-holder insert was changed

also LED tail lights incorporated in...2009? I don't know for sure but i do know 2010 and 2011 have them : )

2011 grilles have honeycomb styling vs. bars.

As noted, the major change was in 2009 with the addition of TRAC (traction control)& AUTO LSD (enhanced traction control) to all Tacomas and the addition of a hydraulic brake booster and A-TRAC (super enhanced traction control) to the Off Road TRDs.

Traction control is a slip limiting system that improves the abilty to move ahead when road conditions cause tires to loose traction. An open differential allows easy steering, but when one of the drive tires begins to spin, the vehicle stops acceleration and can become stuck. Traction control limits the spinning and energy is transfered to the opposite tire that is on firmer ground. Instead of using complicated clutches and gears inside a differential, Trac uses the vehicles brakes to slow a spinning tire... Works great!
