I have decided to make some sliders. I know nothing about the nuances of sliders... but for some recent searching. I got the plates made and bent from this: www.tacomaworld.com/threads/diy-bolt-on-frame-plates-for-sliders Now I need some input on the dimensions and design musts from here. 0 Degree? 15 or more such as 25 degree? Four post or three? More/less? Kickout or straight? Anyone know how far I should be outside of the pinch weld? I need some ideas narrowed down so I can get started. I am sure I will get beat up by some here for this ask; however, this is an honest ask-I don't know much about what I am trying to make and need some advice.

0, 10, 20 degree is preference. Do you want them tucked up out of the way, or out so you can easily use it as a step. More or less same with kickout. 4 post will be stronger than 3 post. I made mine with the middle bar maybe a half inch past the pinch weld.

Kick outs are nice, they push the truck away enough that the bed normally doesn't hit. 15 degrees seems to be the most common number. I don't see rocks very often in upstate NY so I don't know if it's enough. I use mine mainly as tree protection on tight corners, and as a jack point. They also double as air tanks.

Yeah I've got 15 degrees on mine, works well enough as steps and stays tucked enough to not catch on shit and provide nice protection. I'd say 3 post is plenty, I can't imagine beating on sliders where an extra post would make a difference

They're 120 wall tubing, so I figured it would hold air pressure. On a hunch I plumbed in an air fitting and only found a few pin holes. Patched them up. Between the two I have 2.5 gallons.

Me not knowing the math makes me wonder.... would that be enough... especially as the tank drains and then has less pressure than the tire.

I use them along with my oba compressor.
I also have a 2.5 gallon tank tucked between the bed sides

I have thought about doing this with mine. I'm even considering tucking a copper line up under the body and connecting the two sides to have one larger tank. My main bodies are square hitch tubing.
I'd start by putting an air valve in first, fill one and check the pressure every few days to see if they have any pin hole leaks.

Yeah that's a crazy smart idea, save a bunch of weight skipping the tank on something you've already got on the truck

I just fabbed mine this way. I connected the main tubes of mine but haven't plumbed in any fittings. I also already painted them so hopefully I'll get positive pressure when I drill the hole for the fitting.
