Just totaled my truck...

Heading home tonight, hit a patch of ice on the road and lost control of my truck. Once I hit the side of the road I flipped over, slid all the way down the ditch and came to rest upside down. I was only going 45-50 but have never been so scared in my life...I managed to crawl out the passenger side window. Worst of the damage was the top of the cab crushed in but looks like the head rest helped keep me from harm...I came out of it without a scratch. Unfortunately, they are pretty sure my truck is totaled so I'm very very sad as I loved my truck and had only had it since July of last year. Time to call insurance agent...I will post pictures later.

Man, the best thing is. You're unharmed and here to tell us about it. I know it sucks but it will take a lot of getting use to. Driving will not be the same for awhile but you'll get through it.

I hope its not totaled, but if it is. I do hope you get another one as it kept you 100% safe.

Been there, done that. It's a scary feeling for sure. Glad you are ok man. Good thing tacos are so tuff. Hopefully insurance will put you in a brand new one.

i did pretty much the same thing but my was in a catty rolling a car is pretty damn scarry shit not going to lie i was being a dunb ass teen age kid when i rolled mine going way way way too fast to make the turn

That's true. I rolled a 2003 Ford Ranger that was my work truck and that was the scariest moment in my life. Flipped over, hit a telephone pole upside down, then rolled some more....honestly thought for a split second I was going to die. Rolling a vehicle is definately not something I ever want to do ever again.

 

I've been a passenger in three different rollovers. It's as scary the third time as the first! The only time I went to the hospital was a t-bone though.

Where in Iowa? We had slick roads around Dubuque.

A few years back, while driving through South Dakota, a Toyota pick-up (4WD) passed me on the interstate. The temps were at that point where it could get icey.
As he started to get back in the right hand lane, I could see more and more of his right side.
He spun 180 degrees, wheels hit the plowed snow and he rolled 3 times.
Cab was crushed but had a roll bar so that saved him. Windshield was knocked out but he was belted in.
When he got out he said "Darn, I just bought the truck a couple of hours earlier!"

4WD works good in snow but icey roads are a different deal.

Glad your okay. I had an incident with ice too I just took out a reflector pole with my rear bumper. Sorry about your truck. But we are all glad you are here to tell us about it

 

Thats too bad, glad ur ok, it could have been worse, it used to be anytime the roof was caved in on a roll over it would considered totaled and considered unsafe to repair because it may not substain another roll over crash, BUT NOT ANYMORE!
New advances in auto body repair can repair your truck and I bet nobody will total it, but repair it.

Glad your OK. It's a bummer about your Tacoma, but the first issue is your well being. Take care of yourself and good luck with the insurance company. Don't settle until your happy about the settlement.
