Good to know. Wireless CarPlay is working great for me but wasn’t sure if the wife could also connect her iPhone wirelessly or if it’s better to connect hers thru wired connection.

Problem solved email response was amazing and they said cut these two wires and everything will work as intended. Sure enough fired right up back up camera works and all. Now my question is how do I get around the videos not playing on All streaming apps just download a older version apk?

Wow, great news! I have emailed support and they are very helpful

For Netflix, yes, you need to download older version. I posted instructions 1-2 pages back. It’s working great for me!

Also make sure you turn on video while moving option (not sure what its called or where it is, but there is a option that blocks video from playing unless in park)

I’ve only had mine installed for a few days and I love it. The screen is so much better than stock and no one can tell it’s not stock.
I use CarPlay most of the time but I’ve installed Netflix and Tablo. Both work great!

That version of Netflix won’t allow me to pause or use any functions with the video plays. I’m gonna try another one and report back. Also I’ve read through this thread I can’t seem to find if someone had found a GPS antenna adapter that actually works?

I've had the Joying 9" stereo installed for about a week now. Here are a few things I've learned:

    - You can only connect 1 phone at a time (wireless CarPlay works great!)
    - You cant get CarPlay to start up automatically when you start the truck
    - LOTS of ways to customize the screen and apps
    - Although Joying support is located in China(?) and they respond in the late evening, the support is very good
    - I cant figure out how to keep the Wi-Fi hotspot connected when I jump back and forth between CarPlay and the "main" android home screen. I have to manually re-connect the Wi-Fi hotspot from my phone on the stereo every time I go to the CarPlay screen - frustrating but not a deal breaker as I use CarPlay 95% of the time.
    - Sound quality is much better than OEM stereo - louder, clearer, more customizable sound with EQ
    - Larger screen is so much nicer! I had 7" premium screen and the Joying screen is noticeably bigger and clearer
    - Lots of talk about the rear camera view being really bad - its not great, but not bad either. Im not reading a book on this screen, Im just trying to avoid hitting something/someone
    - Install is relatively easy, and the tips from this group are SUPER helpful. Before removing OEM radio, I connected the wire for radio antenna to back of Joying stereo and connected yellow RCA backup camera cable to yellow IN cable on the stereo after labeling the 2 white connectors that wouldn't be used in the install. (pics starting on page 6 of this thread)

Issues that still need resolution for me:
    - Apps are very small when I go to all apps mode (like 1/4 the regular size)
    - How to fix the Wi-Fi hotspot connection so it automatically connects when I start the truck, and stays connected when I switch between home screen and CarPlay
    - Is there a way to change the icons on the home screen? I'd like the CarPlay and radio icons to look different if possible
    - Finding video/TV apps that work - need to use older versions of the apps to get them to work correctly (Netflix, Disney+, Sling, YouTube TV, etc.)

Overall, I would highly recommend this stereo! Its a 4 out of 10 on the difficulty scale to install and its a huge improvement over the OEM stereo.

CarPlay starts automatically for me unless there's an issue with BT.

Thats great to hear! CarPlay starts for me when I touch the CarPlay icon on the home screen, but I was hoping for it to launch automatically when the truck is started so CarPlay comes up and looks like its the "home screen" by default without having to touch anything. I emailed Joying support and they told me this wasn't possible.

Yeah, the Zlink app runs automatically unless the head unit reboots itself, it remains in memory and attempts to connect with my phone each and every time the truck starts. If the head unit reboots, the radio automatically launches.

The process is so automatic that for the few times I want to listen to the radio, sometimes the Zlink app takes over and mutes the radio.

I have not been able to get Sling TV or Google Play movies to work on this unit.

Not that I'm aware of. The behavior has persisted even after a firmware update.

OK, I figured this out. I went to Settings > User > Application setting. From there, all the apps are set to Off position. I simply turned the Car Link app to "On" so it will automatically start when the truck is started.

Wireless car play uses a direct WiFi connection that is why you cannot use wifi and CarPlay at the same time.

Makes sense, thanks. So if I wanted to have my hot spot connection work all the time, it sounds like I would need to remove my iPhone Bluetooth and wifi from the Joying stereo, and then only use wired CarPlay?

Man I thought I was the only one. Mine still does this periodically and it's pretty annoying.

Now that folks have used these for some time, are they still a good option? I tried an Android head unit on a Landcruiser 5-6 years ago and while it was a cool concept, it turned out to be too buggy and unstable to really enjoy, and required a lot of fiddling. Hopefully these newer generation units are better. I am specifically looking to get one for Carplay to run Google maps, Gaia, Spotify, podcasts and NPR One. Specifically:

    1. How long does it take to boot up when you start the truck? Extra credit: if you are using Carplay, how long from starting the truck to being able to use Carplay?

    2. How reliable are these units? Primarily running Carplay, how often does the unit have an unexpected reboot, or other glitch? I could live with once every 40 hours or so, but would struggle with issues more often that that.

    3. For anyone that runs Gaia through Carplay - how well does that work? Is it laggy, or buggy? Is the screen resolution sufficient for topographic maps?

    Thanks for your input!
