So has anyone seen this in an 18+? I have been looking and haven't seen any post, but not sure if I missed any. Hoping the post about it being corrected in 18 was correct.

Tacoma was losing the pink juice and I had the pleasure of seeing it dripping down my transmission on passenger side. Yep, time for a little intake manifold removal. Anyone have the part numbers for the o rings?

Thanks for bringing this issue to light. Time to keep record of all the know possibilities and start a check list for DIY.

I'm doing the repair myself since I was quoted 4k for this shit design. Does anyone have a decent write up on it. There's far more connections in place now than the old Ford engines I'm used to working on.

See the SM link in my signature. It recommends pulling the plenum for spark plug swaps, which is totally not necessary there, but those steps will get you there for the coolant pipe.

Changed my oil this weekend on my 17 with 64000 miles. Saw coolant on the passenger side of trans. Looked up with flashlight and saw plenty of pink crusties on the crossover pipe. Oil is leaking again from the front timing cover, after they replaced it under warranty and resealed in March of this year (58k miles). Have an appointment on Monday. They will get an ear full if this shit isn't replaced under my lifetime powertrain, especially after they were already around the part in March. Will report back with update next week.....

WOW! You got a double whammy! Sorry you're having to deal with that. That's a bummer. Anxious to see what you find out.

That stuff is a band-aid, but can buy some time if the leak is very small. I've had a head gasket seep on my Impreza stop and stay leak free for 7 years, but probably only about 20k miles, after using that stuff.

Sold my Quicksand SR5 to local Toyota dealership, as-is. 65k miles on it and they weren't going to cover the crossover pipe leak. With the timing cover oil leak coming back and no recall/new part for this coolant leak yet, I cut my ties, while the used market was good. I did email Cooperate about the issue, just to make a formal complaint. I'm sure they'll have a recall some day. If I would've purchased an off-road 6MT, I'd probably have kept it and fixed the leak myself. But, the 3.73 gears in SR5 auto, and 32" tires, sucked fuel and shifted all the time.
Good luck to others that have this leak; hope they cover the bills on these soon.

Has anyone not replaced it and just added a few ounces of coolant every year or so? Does the leak get worse and eventually leave you stranded?

The last thing that you want is air in the system. It messes up the pressurization and efficiency. A weep means that air is getting in.

I have not heard of major failures from the coolant pipe though. Just crusty weeping.
