Incident #3 in 2020 took place at a car show in Telford, in probably September or October; There was a woman walking her dog, and she was wearing a mask; I was not wearing mask because I was outside and it was fairly warm out. I asked if her dog was friendly, and she said yes, but then she went full Karen and flipped out; She said that she didn't want me petting her dog because I wasn't wearing a mask... o_O

She then, totally unprovoked, swore at me; She went from zero to F-bomb in a matter of seconds, just because I asked if her dog was friendly! I said "you musta woken up on the wrong side of the bed" and she was like "We're in the middle of a fucking pandemic!" before storming off and going into her house that happened to be directly across the street from the parking lot where the car show was being held...

I say again, this all started because I approached her without a mask on but outdoors and asked if I could pet her dog!

Thankfully I have not had any interactions with the mask Nazis.

@Taco critter knows about this incident, but I don't know if you or @Red Alert heard about it...

There was an incident in 2021 at the Toyota dealer; I forget exactly when it was, but it was definitely earlier this year. I'm thinking that it may have been in late February when my mechanic tested positive for COVID and I had to go to the dealer for an oil change. The service writer was wearing a mask, there was a clear plexiglass partition between us, and I was also wearing a mask; It was that black and green rubber one that made me look like Bane...

Anyway, the service writer (who was probably younger than me) told me that he couldn't hear me because of my mask; There was a partition between us, so I lowered my mask, and this guy promptly flips out...

I put my mask on because I wasn't about to get thrown out of the place while they still had my truck, but gruffly told him that I was vaccinated...

I got the first vaccine in March and the second one in April, so it definitely was not the oil change at 125K when my mechanic got COVID; That would have been at the very end of February...

The service writer gave me the "you could be asymptomatic" lecture and I wanted to scream, but I kept my mouth shut and got my keys back; I ranted about this encounter on Facebook later that day, and my friend's wife told me that I should have asked to speak to that guy's manager. I may come across as a conspiracy theorist, but I swear that guy was trying to bait me!

The mask mandate at the Toyota dealer has since been dropped, and this guy form earlier in the year was the same guy I dealt with when I had to bring the truck back minutes after picking it up from getting the frame replaced; He either didn't recognize me or didn't care...

I really only wear a mask at this point to humor my mom; Almost all of my Aspie friends are fed up with masks due to sensory issues that result from wearing them for extended periods of time!

I hate the dealership; Bastards wanted almost $600 for a remanufactured alternator a couple weeks ago!

I was at a cars and coffee about fifty miles from my house, less than a week before the truck went in for frame replacement; It was a tiny little village in Chester County called Elverson...

There were two eating establishments and only one was open; I had to walk a decent amount to get to the restaurant and I left my mask in the truck since literally no restaurants near me that I frequent require masks anymore...

I showed up at this podunk little bakery and there was a sign outside the door saying that masks are mandatory for everyone regardless of vaccination status...

I would have just put on my mask and gone in, but I'd left my mask in the truck and didn't feel like making another trip. I openly complained about this and a guy who'd just bought food there said they'd give you a mask if you didn't have one...

I was so pissed off that I walked away, but I still had to take a dump; Luckily, the father of guy who was running the cars and coffee owned a shop a couple buildings down and was not only kind enough to let me use his restroom, but didn't care if I had a mask or not. He himself had a condition that caused him to go into seizures if he wore a mask for a long time, and he thus had a medical exemption from wearing one.

I talked to the son of this business owner (again, the son ran this cars and coffee), and he told me that the owners of the bakery were assholes; This was not only because they required masks this late in the pandemic, but because they actively tried to get his events shut down due to some petty disagreement!

Got a remanufactured alternator at AutoZone for $220, then paid a mechanic friend $50 and a case of his favorite beer to install!

I am not the biggest fan of part store alternators but for that big of a price difference it was worth it to just do what you did.

That particular dealer has always been greedy with markup on parts, but I think the recent inflation had a lot to do with it as well; Also, they are located in literally one of the wealthiest zip codes in the area, full of busy people who would rather pay for the convenience than do the work themselves...

Also, you know what amazes me? My mechanic is within walking distance of the Toyota dealer; A lot of his customers drive Lexus and Toyota vehicles, but go to him because they don't feel like paying dealer prices. He gets the parts from the dealer at a lower price than me, and in addition to that only charges me for the amount of time he actually spends working on the truck rather than the full flat rate... :luvya:

Mavis Discount Tire tried to charge me almost double the amount that my mechanic did for a set of Cooper Discoverer AT/3s, citing a "COVID shortage"!

The only thing I went to the dealer for until 2020 was inspections, and when my mechanic undercut the dealer on that too, I started having him inspect the truck!

Amazingly enough, my old frame is still sitting at the dealer over a month after it was replaced! It's sitting underneath two considerably worse-looking frames...

How did I know it was mine? That distinctive little hole on the right side that resulted in Toyota approving the replacement in the first place!
