In case you haven't already gotten an answer to this, yes you can. The sensors will work in any wheel, provided they fit in said wheel.

good afternoon, how true is it that my 2015 stock Taco TPMS won't work with the SEMA wheels?

If you have alloy wheels currently, they should work. If you have steel wheels currently, you might run into issues as they need to be turned to run in alloy wheels.

I recently went from not running sensors in my snow tires to running sensors in my snow tires. I picked up a set of takeoffs that still had the OEM sensors. I ended up with the new ATEQ Quickset X to handle TPMS changeover.

    https://www.ateq-tpms.com/en-us/products/quickset-x/

It's certainly pricey at $260 from Amazon, but it behaves flawlessly for my needs. It's not as easy as cloned sensors, but seeing as I had OEM sensors at my disposal it was an easy way to deal with my problem. The only caveat is that ATEQ claims that the Quickset X does not work with non-OEM sensors. That being said, I was able to use the scanner to scan my wife's Jeep which has a single non-OEM sensor which the tool was able to detect without issue. You select your make / model / year / wheel type (alloy or steel, at least for the Tacoma) and go from there. That being said, my truck is a 2016 and my takeoffs are from 2017 or 2018 and I just used the 2016 truck for both sets without issue. I don't know what would happen with non-OEM sensors for Tacomas, I'd have to find someone with aftermarket sensors and scan and see what happens.

The tool is very intuitive to scan the the sensors, but not nearly as such to load them in. That being said, once they're in they're golden.

Well, I got some rims and tires from discount and their tpms isnt working. '22 OR. I wanted to keep the stock tpms on the stock rims so I can mount snow tires for a quick swap. I am selling stock tires next week so I'll have to take it in and get the tires taken off the stock rims, but I'd still like to keep the stock tpms on the stock rims.

Is this a known issue? Common? Hopefully if discount can't get them to work they will refund me.

    @Discount Tire what's the deal?

What did you buy from DT? New sensors? What type?

Have you followed the TPMS button, by your left shin, directions out of the OM?

A lot of shops still do not know that our trucks have a very different TPMS system that uses the ECM/PCM and how to program the new sensors.

Stop pressing the fob buttons dude, that’s not it.

lol, I will check the Owners manual. I did just read a little about that button but have not gone into detail yet about programming, just what the button was for. And of course, the dealer was not very helpful either. They wanted me to bring it in and buy their sensors etc etc... I've never had this issue before, and I got the rims/tires and sensors before I even had possession of the truck. I'll try to do some more digging in the owners manual today while I block out the christmas chaos.

The button in the dash makes the TPMS relocate the wheels after reinstallation in their different position; wheel rotation.

Programming for the TPMS you will need to have a specific TPMS tool and the OEM sensors ID numbers.

2nd Gen sensors are 315mhz and Do Not Work in 3rd Gen Tacomas.

Right, they had the TPMS tool and said they could not get it to work. I read the owners manual and there is quite a few steps. It says to make sure the tire pressure is set to a specific amount, but I have bigger tires than stock and there is no info given on what PSI they should be at to calibrate with the TPMS. Turn the ignition to "ON", then hold the button until it flashes. Finally, a short and slow drive to calibrate. Maybe that is the issue? I will try going in and redoing it that way. I guess the only question is if they have the correct ID codes. Not sure if that was the issue, or that nobody knew to press the switch. I really hope it's that simple. I don't see why it wouldn't be. Since they are going to pull the OEM sensors from the stock setup before I sell the tires, they should be able to get the numbers off them if they need to. Still isn't going to work properly since I have a 90 mile drive home the truck will pick up all sensors instead of just the 4 tires in use. Whatever happens, I am not buying new sensors. It's either swap the stock sensors in and get a refund for the sensors I got from discount, or make them all work.

Well, went back to Discount. No results. Followed the manual and got nothing. Their system is probably not setup for '22s yet.

I was really just wondering why this is happening and the answer I get from them is basically nobody has brought in a '22 yet and their system only goes up to '21. I followed the instructions in the manual, which you'd think they would know about the TPMS button, and nothing happened. The sensor light blinks when starting the truck and no matter what I do it does not indicate the button has been pressed. I turned off, waited. Turned to on, waited for the light to stop blinking, held the button, got nothing. I tried again without waiting for the light to stop blinking, got nothing. I tried with the first press of the ignition switch and got nothing - as expected.

They used these ones, which are listed on their website as compatible:
    https://www.discounttire.com/buy-accessories/bh-sens-tpms-sensor/p/80962

Really just confused here and nobody seems to know why they are not working. They also only charged me $30 for each sensor, so not bad - if they worked, lol. The biggest problem is that I live 90 miles away. So I am wondering if the local shop (Les Schwab) would be able to program those sensors, assuming they work? Maybe they can give it a try since I have to take the stock rims/tires in and de-mount them to sell the stock tires anyways (I am keeping the rims and TPMS for snow shoes. I do appreciate the help so far though, just at a loss for why nothings working. Should they be plugging into the OBD2 when they do this? Because all they did was use the wireless device and got no results.

Yes, if you want to pay for it every time. I don't k ow a ship that is going to do it for less than $80 and that's very low. So doing that one year already justifies just getting new sensors.

On a side note, discount tire gave me a refund.

Just got in my 2022 Sport. Does anyone have a pic of the OEM TPMS sensor (specifically the rubber valve stem) or know the style or part number of the replacement rubber valve stem. Discount tire says they most likely have them but would have to look at it. I have a tire machine and would just like to have new valve stems ready. Would save me a trip from having to take one out and run up there to match one up.
