Trifocals and the loss of dexterity in my hands make it tough.....I can look at the 20's and 22's from years ago and look at todays 12's and there is no comparison......luckily the Pa. trout aren't that picky!!!

Lucky you. Depends on the time of the year, but October-Now and beyond is 16-18 or less in waters I fish here in ID. Nymphing is a different story…this is the bottom of one of my euro setups. Size 8 hook. Sculpin

Wish I had gotten pics on my trip to Arkansas last month. My 6yr old son was camera person and he kept holding phone with fingers over lens.
Had a sunfish with amazing turquoise coloring and good size small mouth from one spot. Got brown and rainbow trout at another spot.

Got to love the variety of fishing in the Arkansas Ozarks. That sunfish would have been a longear…little gems for sure. If you haven’t already, get your son to Dry Run Creek while he’s still young enough to fish it.

Yup, that's it. Love that coloring on them.

Kids have been to Dry Run a few times. Each have gotten a big trout from there. They like watching the fish in Dry Run but prefer to fish more open water where casting is easier.

some of the biggest trout I’ve ever caught have been swinging meat ;)

however, nothing works better for me than these small thin leeches that are super easy to tie

i used a 7wt spey for steelhead, but that was primarily in coastal and inland rivers in Oregon when I lived there. I did manage to catch a few Steelers on the Deschutes with my 3wt, but there were only 4-5lb steelhead. I used black and red weighted 4” leeches for steelhead and they worked stellar as well!

Inspired by a project from @chrisdors , I finally got my rod carrier mounted the way I wanted it.

The only "overlanding" I do is to fishing and biking spots, so I didn't need a full bed rack, but needed something that would hold my rod holder and awning across the bed, still using my OEM roof racks. Chris had something custom fabricated... I had the idea of using just half of a bedrack, but I needed one that also worked with my rolling cover.

You name it... I called them all, and no one would sell me half a rack... until I saw an ad for TuwaPro. They sold me the back half at a great price. Worked perfectly with my cover, and you can extend the height to match the roof line.

Then I just needed a way to get it level with the Oem racks. Used a 1.5" piece of square tube (zinc plated) from Home Depot that I also painted black to raise the rod holder up enough to be completely level. (needed some shims to be perfect). Then found an awning bracket for ARB that i was able to make work with my Yakima Slimshady as well.

Definitely some MacGyvering, but it seems to be working well. Now I just need to go fishing!
