Is waxing your windshield a good idea?

    I’ve done it for decades.

    I also use collonite products.

    I ceramic coated my all of my glass. Windshield lasted about 3 years, now I just touch up with Turtlewax's Hybrid Graphene every 5-6 months to maintain the water beading. The rest of the windows still have their original ceramic coating and bead/sheet water as the day I applied them.

    Before my time. I remember a buddy's dad mentioning potatoes way, way back. Have no idea since we just used rain-x.

    These days I just use that premixed "waterless car wash" spray. It contains wax so good to go.

    ARE topper. Mud guards, factory steps, third bed rail behind cab, tacorail accessory holder, ram mount tablet mount, hood wrap and retro stripes. Bug shield and window shields. Molle seat cover on tear seat.
    Used to do this in the old days. Waxed the glass when I did the car. Bugs and bird droppings came off easier. But I use RainX now and keep their windshield washer fluid topped off. It works great.

    God damn you guys, now I'm gonna have a longer list of things to do this week, that's it no more posting for any of you! Never thought of doing it before, always just clay bared it and cursed the wipers until the next time but this seems worth it. Also if @Unchained 5150 is coating it it must work

    IF you like Rain-x and use it on your windshield I've found that their washer fluid keeps the water beading without having to reapply. If your too lazy to apply anything to your windshield and want the water to bead just use the Rain-x washer fluid.

    :thumbsup:We set off for the in-laws during this huge rainstorm (it is still going…) we drove 5 hours in it.

    The rain was so thick at times that the colisión avoidance radar often thought it was obstructed and shut itself off…
    - Maybe 500 ft visibility.

    Most of the time it was solid rain. Enough to be quite noisy on the windshield.

    I did not swing the wipers even once during the whole trip…

    Water on windshield was no issue at all…

    Surprised no one has mentioned more about this. I don’t wax or use any products on the windshield because of the crazy ghosting when using the wipers - not visible during the day or just plain rainy days - but using the wipers in the dark? Or those snow/slushy days? The ghosting completely ruins visibility.
    Cheapo wiper blades and regular old washer fluid for me, thanks.

    Any ‘product’ that coats the windshield. Wax, RainX, PIAA, whatever. I do not use it on my personal vehicles.
    The wipers are there for a reason, there’s no need to ‘bead’ water off of the windshield and brag about not using the wipers. Paint? Totally. Glass? No.
    If it works for you great. But if you’re ever driving in low light, using the wipers and wondering why everything is ghosting, these products are your answer. YMMV.
