I used VHT Nightshades on my lights about a year ago, and now its like its fading, the lights no longer look tinted.......is it ok to just go over it with more vht or should i sand them down and do it again??? if i have to do it again should i clear coat them, if yes with what???

sorry, i know i sound like a real noob lol.

take some lacquer thinner and wipe the old stuff of wet sand the taillights with
1500 grit sand paper then spray three even coats of VHT night shades let them dry for 30 min then use some krylon clear coat make sure u do 7 nice even coats and u will be very pleased with the out come and once that dries u can lightly wet sand the clear coat with 2000 grit sand paper and then buff.

IMO as long as the original tint is not peeling or cracking, I say lightly wet sand and shoot another coat right over the original. I also agree about multiple coats of clear. I put on 4 coats of clear, wet sanded and polished, they came out looking like glass.

Well, after wet sanding up to 1,600 grit, I used Turtle Polish liquid polishing compound and a Mothers Powerball in my battery drill. It makes a bit of a mess, so I did this outside. The Powerball tends to sling the compound around, so where eye protection as well.

DO NOT use and rubbing compound after wet sanding. The abrasives in the rubbing compound will add scratches back into your clear coat. Go from the wet sanding right to the polishing compound.

While we are talking about VHT, I was wondering if it works on the headlights too, and looks good. Yes I am a noob.

haha i think it would look fine on headlights...its just a matter of how strict the law is in your area. for example cops in my area dont give a crap about tinted tail lights unless they are so tinted that you cant see the lights light up.....on headlights though, they are as strict as they get... any sign of tint on your headlights here and they pull you right over

Awesome, thanks. I'll just call up my detective buddy and ask. He will prob tell me the same thing he did for the windows though, in this wonderful state the machine they use to test your tint is not certified in the state, so IF you get a ticket for it, a judge will just throw it out. I love and hate this state
