I was actually en route to the Chestnut Hill Brewery to pick up an order when I stopped to take pictures of the Trabant; At the brewery, I needed to relieve myself and asked to use the bathroom...

They have the coolest toilet I've ever seen!

And if you really want to impress a cute hostess, ask her if she wants to see pictures of a car built in a communist country about 40 years ago, and then show her and her equally cute coworker pictures of the aforementioned "commie car"...

Certainly worked for me in this case! ;)

I doubt they'd be using a residential window A/C unit to keep seafood cold; If they are, I wouldn't eat it...

He even tipped me $11 on top of the base delivery fee!So, I went Dashing on Thursday and got a high $$$ job that went to a very familiar house; It was this mansion on a hill in a neighborhood right next to Peddler's Village, the one with the blue Mercedes G-wagon in the driveway that I made a very high-paying delivery to last winter during a snowstorm! The homeowner's kids saw my truck from their second floor window and promptly went nuts, and mom came out to snap pictures of the truck while I was leaving the order at the front door; People love the truck!

I actually went Dashing on Christmas, and it started out shitty but ended with me making fifty bucks for an hour and a half worth or work!

    First, the shitty part...

Jade Island in Warrington is permanently on my shitlist and I will never be picking up another DoorDash order from there again; I picked up a very well-paying order from this place the other day and I didn't even have to wait for it! On top of that, Jade Island is now allowing customers to come all the way inside instead of making them line up at the entrance vestibule.

After the being in and out in about a minute the other day, I didn't hesitate to accept tonight's $21.75 order; However, when I got there it was the same old song and dance...

There were probably 4 or 5 people waiting for their food, and when I gave the woman behind the counter the customer's name, she said it wasn't ready...

    :annoyed:

I waited for probably ten minutes and while I was waiting a woman, who told me that she drove for GrubHub, showed up; She was pissed at waiting and gave the woman behind the counter a piece of her mind, only to be largely ignored.

It was at this point that I decided to see where exactly this $21.75 order was going; It was going all the way up to one of the neighborhoods around Peddler's Village. Had the order actually been ready for pickup when I showed up, I would have taken it, but driving all the way there wasn't exactly quick; I somewhat reluctantly unassigned the order, and when I left the GrubHub lady was on the phone with who I presume was the customer...

Like I said, I am never going back there again!

I'd barely stepped out of Jade Island after unassigning that order when I got a new order from the Popeye's on Street Road in Warminster for like $15.75; 99% of the time, this fairly new location is a shitshow, but it generally pays well (especially in this case) so I hadn't shitlisted it yet...

I drove there, and it was fairly dead so I went through the drive-thru; The guy told me to pull around to the window and then promptly told me in a rather abrupt manner to come inside. I half-lied and said I didn't want to come into the store due to COVID (I'm fully vaccinated, and wear a mask indoors in public places for the sole purpose of humoring my 63-year old mother); In reality, my attitude was that I was already at the drive-thru window, so why the hell couldn't they just hand me the the order?!?! I didn't say this, and after mentioning this incident to my parents we all believe that the order wasn't ready yet and they were just stalling to keep me from holding up the drive-thru. They agreed to bring the order out to my truck, but it took so long so I unassigned the order again and left; While I was waiting for them to come out, the guy in the Honda Accord who's been behind me was also directed to park and wait; He was not a Dasher, but waiting for an order for his family at home, so he had no choice...

I've always rather disliked this Popeye's because they are on a very busy stretch of road and exiting the parking lot, especially if you are making a left, can be very tricky; Even when they are not slammed with orders, they take a while to make the order I'm there to pick up...

    Not going back there again!

I hadn't even left the Popeye's parking lot yet, when I got a request to pick up from a place on County Line Road in Hatboro called Sushi X, with a respectable payout of $12; Sushi X has ticked me off in the past largely because their bathroom has been closed to the public since COVID started, but the orders are generally ready on time and the payouts are good. I picked up the order, which ended up going to an office building in Trevose, and dropped it off without incident. One thing I don't like is when the customer wants me to call them rather than just leave their food in a prearranged location (The most common being outside their front door), and this was the case with this order, but I texted the customer through the DoorDash app and they answered so all was good...

After leaving the office building, I got another order from Sushi X for $10; I was literally just around the corner from Sushi X when another order came in from a Wawa in Horsham. It was for a respectable $7.50 so I accepted it; Apparently, this order must have been on the roster for a bit longer because it had an earlier "deliver by" time than the Sushi X order...

The blue dot represents my location at the time I took the screenshot, and the black marker represents the location. If that Wawa; Sushi X was literally right there and the order was ready to go, yet DoorDash expected me to drive all the way to the Wawa and pick up that order first, then go back to the sushi place!

Back in the summer of 2019 when I first started Dashing, I picked up an order from a pizzeria in Doylestown Borough called Nat's that was literally going to a a house around the corner...

Before I even got in the truck to deliver that order, an order came in from another pizza place on 611 in Doylestown Township. What I should have done was selected "Jump to Task" and delivered Nat's order, but I was a newbie and didn't know how to do this. I'd say that 98% customers aren't very understanding when I have another order, but this guy was one of those sticklers who watched my every move on his DoorDash app and became triggered when I came within a block of his house without realizing it and kept going; Then, the calls started coming in, albeit from unfamiliar out-of-state phone numbers. My truck has an aftermarket stereo with Bluetooth, and when I saw that out-of-state number on the screen, I hit decline out of reflex because I thought it was spam.

Then the texts started coming in, which I couldn't answer because I was driving; It was not until I got to this other pizza place that I was able to read the texts. The customer who'd ordered from
Nat's was pissed that I'd unknowingly driven right past his house, and I explained the situation to him via text; When I arrived at his house after getting the second order, I apologized profusely and again explained the situation, and he seemed cool...

I discovered a short time later that my ratings had gone from somewhere in the 4.8s to just 4.71; I have no doubt that this entitled prick who ordered from Nat's is the one who gave me the negative review, and over two years later I'm still trying to get my rating above 4.8!

    :annoyed::luvya:

    C4D0C088-9DE2-46CA-91EE-7ACD2ABA60A7.jpg

The reason my rating hasn't gone back up to 5 stars is because people rarely actually give me a rating, so on the rare occasion I get negative feedback, it really hits me hard!

This is where it gets good; Please read entire story!

I picked up the second Sushi X order without incident and promptly drove to Wawa; When I got arrived and went inside, there was nothing waiting for me on the designated DoorDash rack...

I asked an employee and found out that the order hadn't even been prepared yet; It was basically a grocery list rather than something made fresh in the kitchen. I was forced to wait while this barely attentive teenager went around the store and picked out the items on the list; It was at this point he told me they were out of the specific Tostito's sauce the customer wanted, and could I text her...

    :annoyed:

So, I texted her to explain the situation (rightfully blaming the Wawa) and asked if I could substitute something in its place; She was fine with this and responded with a "facepalm" emoji, but was not the least bit upset with me...

She explained to me that she had a hangry toddler waiting be fed, and this increased the urgency; She obviously couldn't leave a toddler alone in the hotel room to go shopping, but she told me that she didn't feel comfortable bringing her daughter into the Wawa with the COVID uptick...

However, a bunch of customers came in and the halfassed employee directed me to where the Tostitos sauces were located, when the damn order should have been ready when I arrived!

As I got in the truck and set the in-app GPS, I realized that the customer was only a mile away, but at an Extended Stay America (in layperson's terms, a hotel that's more like an apartment). I hate delivering to hotels and apartments, but then I noticed that this woman had also stated in the instructions that she would meet me at a side door rather than me having to go all the way into the hotel and deal with the front desk...

    :woot:

So, I drove the mile to the hotel, having already told her that I was driving a silver Tacoma that she couldn't possibly miss.

When I arrived, she was there with her daughter; I handed off the food, and we got into a conversation about my truck after I told her about the Karen at the Walmart earlier this year who threatened to report me for not wanting to bring her food directly to her.

Having been told that I was in a Tacoma and seen it all decked out in Christmas lights, she told me that she'd worked for Toyota for something like eight years, and the conversation quickly turned to the frame recall. I told her that my truck was about to hit 143K miles, and she said that I could easily expect to reach 400K.

Her daughter was probably 3, and I'm guessing this woman was somewhere in her 30s? She wasn't a supermodel, but she had a lot of tattoos and she was attractive; She had a very tomboyish look to her, but she was friendly and she was attractive. On top of that, she handed me a $20 bill as a tip in addition to the four bucks she'd already tipped me using the app!

So, despite the rocky start, things didn't go so bad!

Very true, but I didn't bother to look close enough to see if she had a ring on any of her fingers; She gave off a single mother vibe though...

Finding a time slot that works for you on DoorDash is all about trial and error; Today...err, um, Monday...Yesterday I went Dashing for the first time in 2022! Things started out great; I delivered two orders, one for $8.75 and one $11...

Then, after I dropped the second order off at this apartment complex on Street Road in Warminster, the insultingly low orders started coming in; Well, actually, one decent order (like $11.50) from Walmart came in first, but it was from Walmart...

I refuse to pick up Walmart orders anymore! :luvya:

But then the insultingly low orders started coming in...
