Hey Susan, technical writing howework is done, now on to lazer and lab safety. :D It's nice to check in here in between things, take a little break. I read that it's going to be 70 where you live today, I'm looking at a couple of feet of snow on the ground here.

I know what you mean, my shoulders are still aching from the snow the other day. Have fun with the leaves, and don't forget to use sunscreen!!

    Good morning Susan.

The faceplate has 3 lights of paint on it and looks decent so far. I started to look at the power and other wires needed for both gauges and for my XM radio and decided I needed to do a diagram of sorts. There is also a 5V power supply needed for the analog oil pressure sended that will be attached to the Aeroforce gauge.

I actually like wiring, it separates the technicians from the craftsman. In other words neatness counts. Makes troubleshooting so much easier later on.

Wiring is easy Susan. It is all Battery to Ground. Installing the wiring in a neat orderly fashion is very critical. With a vehicle there are just so many jolts, bounces, and the constant vibration that securing and protecting the wiring is very important. Always solder the connection where you can. Keep track of the wiring you install and what each color is doing. A journal type book is very helpful. If you know you are going to be doing a lot of add on projects to the vehicle an auxiliary fuse block with space for relays makes the outcome very professional.

Which would you rather have under the hood of your Tacoma?

There are probably some guys on the forum that are even more obsessed than I am.

THe second pic looks 1000 times better... it sounds easy in theory, but I need to see something done once or twice before I would attempt that... I'm afraid I'd melt all the wiring from a little mistake :anonymous:

You are a smart woman just pony up and do it yourself.

That is why we use fuses in all new electrical devices we add. The blown fuse protects the wiring and prevents fires.

You should attend a local meet with a wiring project in hand and get guidenance from someone that has done the work before but you need to do the actual work.
