    My CEL and TRAC OFF, light just went on. I have a 2012 2WD Tacoma, any suggestion what this might be all about

    Check the code. Common is ABS/wheel speed sensor and brake stop switch.

    You need to scan it, see what codes you have, and post them here.
    The Trac Off light is most likely on because the Check Engine light is on.

    This is true. Toyota vehicles disable TRAC any time a CEL is on - the logic is that TRAC/ATRAC have throttle control, and the engineers decided that it's better to not potentially exacerbate an engine issue by adding high frequency/fast response throttle control.
