Well, i went for a 50 mile ride in my buddies new frontier and have to say it is impressive. Made my sr5 feel older than it was. It has more of my old gen1 tundra v8 feel on the road being very compliant. I can see why he jumped ship from what he had. Imo, nissan took awhile to get this truck to the public but they did a job well done.

The SR5 is baseline. I would expect a full option frontier to do better. It sounds promising and good on Nissan for stepping up. Remember also, this is a new nissan engine, not a tried and true proven unit. So once again, you risk reliability. Most people do not take that into account. They look at short reviews and that's it.

I love the standard TFL guy, does a lot with their 4R, and he's easy to listen to.

I recently gave the TFL off road channel a watch and hated it. Maybe it's wasn't a normal video, but the guy provided basically no useful information, filmed most of the video by hand with what felt like a cell phone, and then took it on a short part of a trail around MOAB that a Subaru could do.

TFL guys are ok. I think they lack knowledge and is evidenced by their comparisons when one of them had no understanding of activating ATRAC/MTS.

Ok, so after having watched this video, which is excellent, it seems like Nissan has made a massive improvement in the ride quality. Funny that he did not think the engine difference was as dramatic. I guess the old saying that paper numbers don't always tell the whole story is true. Again, this engine is an unproven engine, and that to me is a negative mark.

Funny that he gave the Taco the edge on exterior build quality and he also threw out a gem on the interior. Even though he gave the edge on interior design to the Nissan, he did admit that it rattles with the fist bump and that down the road it may loosen more. Very true and what has happened in the old Nissans. He did prefer the feel of the Nissan driving wise, but felt the steering was heavy, which is true of the old truck.

The only other thing I wished he would have discussed is how the engine power delivers. The old Frontier V6 was like an off on switch. It was a dog until you pressed it down a little more than it took off, like an on/off switch. Very hard to modulate power. Again, I wish they had installed the 3.5L VQ engine.

Still, nice truck. The headlight is a little reminiscent of the F150 crossed with Tacoma. I like it.

We all know 99% of these trucks going to see pavement all of their lives. So most reviews will be as if it is a daily driver. How comfy are the seats, the seating position, the infotainment system, cup holders, leg room, head room, etc.

That being said the ‘11 Taco was the best year of the tacoma.

I sent them an email about the MTS and got a response. Turn it on dammit. Lol. Roman sent an email and basically said my bad and then Tommy sent an email and we debated the merits a bit. Don’t know if it sunk in.

Especially since they were comparing to a gladiator and the Gladiator was using the front locker.

I am with you on the sometimes lacking substance but there are many good reviews as well. And usually a bit more professional presentation. I get tired of them always taking a dump on the power and other things about the Tacoma but it is what it is. It’s the top seller in that class for a reason. I love the competition coming out now.

Nope. No oil leaks on my truck. Hopefully can get another 200k with no leaks

I have two KIA’s and they’ve both been reliable, rugged vehicles.
