Yup! My current 9" HU feels massive as it is, I can't image ditching my OEM climate control for a longer screen. Especially when tech is such a revolving door.

If it was a digital HVAC control unit made by Toyota then it would not concern me. I know our controls look outdated but they function fine. The stock head units are sub-par at best. Anything is an improvement. I am always looking but not sure what I will buy. I HATE buying Chinese electronics. HVAC knobs are my limit for supporting the Chinese Communist Party. 26% of every dollar spent in China goes to them. I need to paint my hood and roof. I am considering a rooftop sail antenna from a 3rd gen for satellite radio and GPS when I get it painted. Then I will have the correct updated antenna for a proper head unit. Been using siriusXM for over 10 years in my other vehicles.:rockband:

I only drive the truck 25 to 40 miles a week so I will be getting a cheaper ~$400 Kenwood or Sony unit at BestBuy since I have a Geek Squad TotalTech plan that provides free installation, plus free 2 year warranties, for home and auto stuff. My daily driver already has a nice stock Sony with a sub so staying cheap on the Taco.

Update. Got my truck back 4 days ago with a brand new frame and front struts (Billy 5100's). Was very happy until this happened. I was parked and not in the car luckily..

i was doing some searching and saw this come up...figured i'd add some information...

from recent experience, CVJ will match up and they do specify on the order if you have a FJ/4runner to match up the splines.. RCV does the same. the FJ/4Runner axles are japanese made vs tacoma US made. overseas they use the extra spline vs the Taco version...

i asked one of the head techs at CVJ the other week when i picked up my 2+ axles and asked him what the differences were.. i heard the internals allowed for greater articulation, but he mentioned those are the same, the differences come with the axles and the spider/race (to match the spline count). FJ/4Runner has one more spline.

the housings are the same, so they are interchangable between tacoma/FJ/4Runner, but if you ever need to swap out the shafts, a tacoma shaft would not work with the FJ/4runner internals.

Rear shock relocate finished up. I have some 7100’s on back order but threw some 12” 5125’s in for the meantime.

@Arcticelf makes an awesome product be sure to checkout his page on the relocate.

Hammer Hangers showed up as well but I’ve had enough grinding for at least a couple days lol.

Installed the Pop n Lock tailgate lock. With the tonneau cover I feel stuff in the bed will be relatively secure. Not that I keep much back there.

After years of procrastinating I finally decided to give the Taco a new torque converter for Xmas. Shuddering was getting really bad even after several fluid changes and Dr. Tranny Fix tubes. Taco shifts like new again and shudder is completely gone.

    Old converter

And the new one installed. Went ahead and replaced the trans filter, pan gasket, rear main seal(wasn't leaking but for peace of mind) and torque converter seal while I was at it.

If you're concerned with theft, I hate to tell ya but a flat head screwdriver is all you need to get through the pop n lock. Someone attempted that on my truck. If there's nothing of value kept in the bed, you might want to grab one of @christian06 's ADTs and protect the gate.
