Cool, thanks for adding to this. So does this mean the FJ/4R are the better axles? seems like it to me..

I finally made time to perform the complete Crash&Burn Headlight upgrade Mod to my 12 Prerunner today. I also cleared the way for my Cadillac horns as well, but ran into a mounting issue and had to postpone the horn install effort. I considered sharing a play-by-play photo record but Raylands wright up gave good coverage of the process so here are a few random shots of the process.

in theory yes.. typically more splines are a stronger design. if you are ever rebuilding the axles, you need to make sure you buy FJ/4R components or you'll be s.o.l. when trying to rebuild. taco shafts would not fit

For those that have installed MESO red map lights be careful. My neighbor sat in my truck too long with the MESO maps on.

What did you use? Was a pressure washer used with some type of cleaner?

My Taco needed a brake fluid flush, so I taught my son how to bleed brakes. He learned something, and we got in some nice bonding time. I’ll treat him to lunch at his favorite restaurant for his efforts.

I used a cloth with Mothers Back to Black for the engine cover, fuse box, intake tube and the air box. I tried it on some of the hoses but that didnt help much. The rest of the bay was rinsed out with a garden hose a few weeks earlier. Just use very light water pressure and be careful around electronics like the alternator, fuses, and such.

Sick, I’ve got a mal mix of my own. He’s my wife’s service dog and usually stays in the cab.

Took a ride to HF again. Waterbury doesn’t have any and a person there said they are on clearance so it will be difficult getting any.

Not sure if this photo will help you, but here is how I have mounted my 4 Buick Park Avenue horns. Photo is from my 2007, but they are now on my 2015 with an identical setup.

If you could grab one, I would love to take it ......even though it says "in stock" it might not be since all of the other store that were supposed to have one "in stock" didn't. Could you call the store to "physically put their hands on it?"
