What do you guys with plows run? I don't think stock springs would handle the weight.

I ain't talkin' 'bout a 3/4 ton Chebby here. I'm asking what Taco owners run with their plows, plastic or steel.

    1. You asked what us guys with plows run, Mine is a 1985 GMC Sierra 1 ton SRW, manual 4x4 6.2 diesel still under 66k miles that my father and I have put on and has plowed every winter except fro 2010/2911 since we got it from the dealer 12-1984.

    2. I asked you specific questions about what you want to run.

New questions for you; Where do you live? What type of plowing do you want to do? What terrain? Do you want to plow for money? How much snow do you get?

    Jeez.

Most people don't run tacoma plows. It's simply the wrong truck.

The GMC is a far better choice.

Talk to the people selling you the plow, Tacoma not the best truck for snowplowing. I know a few , just personal driveway.

Like a few have said not the best for plowing. However the company that makes access tonneau covers in Jamestown ND, AGI Inc makes light blades for personal use for small trucks and jeeps mount on 2" receiver hitch about 1300$. The frames on these trucks I don't think are designed for the punishment of plowing snow for hire.

I grew up in Lee where my father still has the 425 acre farm where we plowed with full size trucks and two tractors one having an invaluable pto driven snow thrower.
The Fisher plow in our GMC was bought at the Fisher plow dealer which is still in Lee.
My gut is that you are not going to be very happy plowing with your Tacoma. I bet a cab, wipers, and a heater for the tractor will be cheaper.

The Tacoma does fine plowing. One only needs to have realistic expectations on the capabilities.

Look at some Timbren front bump stops, as this is exactly what they are designed for. You can then remove them come spring time.

I'm not far from Lee. (Danville) You know what we get for snow. My last Toyota plow truck was an '87 with a 6' Fisher blade, under hood pump and valve. Cable run joy stick. The solid front axle and leaf springs handled the weight with no problem.
That 22R pushed a lot of snow!
I don't think Toyota makes them like they used to.
I thought the new trucks would be up to the task. I guess it ain't so. Kinda disappointing.

In general, IFS is the worst setup for plowing. The 3rd gen is a better truck all around IMO.

It is with the correct parts it would be; heavier front coil springs, upgraded front shocks at a minimum.

So how do you like it? It seems like it would have limited use for deep snow depth for the low profile blade.

The most I have had to deal with is about a foot with no issues. The blockage at the street from the township snowplow was a couple feet, but it pushed through it nicely.

A GMC isn't even better than a twinkie. Although, I think it's amazing that GMC/Chevy made the list twice. :D

Can confirm. My gmc is an unreliable pos. But its a beast when it wants to work. Id rather beat the crap out of that plowing, than my tacoma.
