Hello Radioheads. I Recieved my kicker components fronts for my non jbl 22 Sport. Is this the correct tweeter harness for my components set up? It has four wires, two wires are looping back and only two coming out. If I plug this female harness into the male oem tweeter harness, then do I take the two wires to my component box line in, from there, out back to new tweeters and also the mids?
Did a little drawing, is this that simple? Will the metra harness send the right signal to the crossover then to the speakers? Al

The Metra harness you have shown is for the dash mounted speakers. If you are using a 6 x 9 component system in the front doors you need Metra harness 72-8104 (I assume you are mounting the tweeter in the sail panel or elsewhere in the door panel). The factory setup sends the signal from the head unit to the dash speakers first, then loops the signal to the front doors. That is why there is a "loop-back" in the harness you have. The factory door wiring with the Metra 72-8104 harness will send a full-range signal to your crossover.

Hello @RDW59565. Thanks for chiming in...
Don't I only need two wires to go to the crossover? I wondered why they were looped, maybe to send a full range to the crossover? 6x9 components are being used yes. In the 22 the tweeter is still in the dash where I'll keep it, and mid on the door still. Mid in door I'll be pluging into oem door harness. So I need to basically two in and two out on this metra. Taking two wires (line out) off the oem male to the crossover, then bring the mid out from the crossover back to the metra to feed the mid oem harness on the door. Did I get that right? Maybe I can tap in the loops.this is the metra harness Crutchfield sent with my speaker set up. That's why I'm scratching my head here. New drawing if it's right

I have a 2nd gen, but I run passive crossovers and the one set in/two sets out is the way mine work. So this drawing might work. I ran an external amp so I'm not using any of the stock speaker wiring so I cannot be 100%

    Need some clarification.

Am I correct that you are using the existing dash speakers in addition to your component setup?

If you are going to keep the factory dash speakers, is your intended component tweeter installation location (from a wiring standpoint) easier to get to from the dash or the door?

FYI, the factory system sends a full-range signal to both the tweeter location in the dash AND the doors. There is a capacitor mounted directly to the dash speaker that blocks the low and mid ends of the signal, but the signal "in the wire" is full-range.

Also, the 72-8104 harness is a two wire harness.

22 is the year of the truck
Removing all oem speakers but using oem harness
Installing Kicker components with 6x9 mid (door) and 1" tweeters (dash) with a crossover up front.
And Kicker 6.5 coax speakers on rear doors.
Here are the harness that came with my order. And the front set of speakers

Looks like your last diagram is correct. If I understand you correctly, this is what you are looking for.
You will need to clip the return loops and connect them to the Low-Out side of the crossover. This is the signal that will then be passed to the factory door harness. Be sure to double check the polarity of everything before you button it up.

No fair you used a ruler for your drawing lol.
Yes your insight lead me to my second drawing.
Just have to fine a pin chart now for the 2020+ tweeter harness.
Thanks for your help. Cheers Al

I think so to. Trying to use oem wire has you second guessing always. Cheers

I think you’re neglecting to see what’s in this post. It was mentioned you should decide “are you using the dash or door wiring for your crossover?” It was also mentioned “both wires are full range. The dash tweeter has a capacitor on it.”

To wire in the crossover, pick the dash or door feed off the deck. Then from there, you can connect one of your components to the crossover directly, the other you have to run a length of wire to connect it.

Need to PnP Male oem tweeter harness to Metra 72-8110....
Tweeter will be using new wires from crossover with no oem harness...
Door mid will be using oem wire and harness...
Metra 72-8110 harness is where I'm stuck.
But I think @RDW59565 has it right. Just need to figure all the colours out at both ends now.

Looking back on my order, the tweeter dash harness #72-8110. Sorry I cannot remember the color schemes, I "assumed" the white+ back-, i ended up using a polarity tool(pt-9a) that I had on hand to figure it out after cutting the loop wires as I did not know which pair of white/black were the source and which pair went to the front door speaker. You could use an ohm meter for that, the other two would be the source wires.

I believe 59565 has that connector pin out for the wiring, but I guess the ohm meter be more assured, idk.
maybe 59565 could confirm white+ black- for confirmation

I also want to mention, that Metra #72-8109 adapter for the rear door speakers was wired wrong for some reason, the connector can only attached to the oem harness one way and in my case, the black/white wires were crossed which caused my rear speakers to be out of phase. Just something you may want to take note of when installing rear door speakers.
So much I've learned reading comments here and there.

I noticed that after I posted. The set you bought appears to have higher quality tweeters (silk vs paper). Curious what you think of them once they're installed.
