What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I added the external cooler specifically because my experience was that the original cooler didn't do shit. Before the changes to the system, I saw numbers as high as 275 degrees. (Not for extended amounts of time, but on a significant grade while loaded, during the summer, on 110 plus day). Those types of numbers can't be allowed to happen... so I fixed it.


But you're changing the entire discussion here. No where did I ever say anything about eliminating the factory "cooler."

I think a more accurate "experiment" would be you should add an aftermarket cooler, delate your factory cooler, and then drive around in Northern Montana in the winter and see what happens... I mean it should go perfectly well seeing as the factory "cooler" doesn't serve any purpose what so ever in warming up your ATF to operating temperature... Right?


Let's remember the entire context of my comment was DIRECTLY related to how the lines should be ran when ADDING an external cooler... and I also specifically mentioned the importance of what climate you are (or will be) in.

0 psi is the only way to go lol


Just to clarify with everyone. I have gone down to 6-10psi many times, beat the shit out of my tires/rims, and have yet had the tire come off the rim like that. This was due to a faulty tire stem that slowly leaked air out causing 0 psi, first for everything. Both side walls were still in the rims and all I had to do was air it up to pop the tire back into place, did this when the wheel was on the tire carrier. What am I trying to say? Don't be afraid to air down low lol. Just make sure you have a spare and the right tools to change it out. SCS are still good wheels!

 

Those are scs wheels right? Just send them to omf and they can make them real bead lockers.

 

Realized this hose wasn’t plugged in at the top so hopefully that was causing my idle issue. So far so good. Smooth idling now just need it to slowly drop rpm.

It’s a 96 that used to have a 3.4. Still has the 2wd trans and I already stripped the interior. Plan as of now is to cut the core support and put it on saw horses and csge it so I can keep wheeling. Once I’m done caging the roller, paint it and put it on the crawler and then swap the crawler cab onto the roller and either part it out or slap a 3rz or 3.4 in it with the 2wd trans and use it as a 3rd daily lol. I really don’t need a 3rd car but it’d be a cool little trick to have.

it was in a front end wreck so the hood is trash. Fenders are decent. Cab is spotless besides a small dent. Doors are good and most the interior besides some dash pieces was good. So should make a good donor especially considering I only paid 800 for it lol

Kind of what I figured. Hoods are cheap. I’ll throw some tube and build a new core support and if I decide to keep it make it a little drift truck parts runner. If not I’ll sell it for hopefully a profit

I think @OpeCity and I had a respectful conversation where we shared opposing points of view. He didn't say anything that made me mad, I don't think I said anything to make him mad.

But the other sissies don't understand that adults can disagree, yet continue to discuss, without getting mad
