I have 60 miles on my New 2022 TRDOR Double Cab. I traded in my 2018 same with 19K miles. When I test drove it briefly, I noticed the steering a little soft, no big deal. I had it out today on the highway and noticed approximately 3/4" of play in both directions. It actually feels sloppy. I want to get information from people here before I call the Dealership.

Please tell me this is not normal... Can this be adjusted? I did not expect this on a New Truck.

Not sure if my video can be played. I did a search & found several other wheel play threads, however nothing pertaining to my situation...

    Thanks in advance.

I would check the tire pressure first and if that’s okay I’d let the dealership deal with it.

Thanks guys. Tire pressure is fine. Even on my lifted Tacoma's it was never close to that bad. Off to the stealership...

Sounds like blown steering tie rods. The dealership kid who took it to get washed before you picked it up probably drove it into a curb at 70MPh.

OK. So, any ideas on making the file available? Seriously, I'm not a content wiz. I could not upload vid img, or MOV. It's not a URL.

Look at my creds, I'm harmless :rasta:

Sudden steering play is a safety issue. I highly recommend that if you can not inspect the steering yourself, to determine the issue, you should get it to the dealer asap.

Good chance the dealers gonna give some BS explanation such as "its a characteristic of the truck". If they do, i suggest you ask the tech to drive along with you so you can show them the issue and if that doesnt help ask to drive one from the lot to compare

Doesn't sound normal. I have a 2022 SR5 that just went over 500 miles today and the steering is fine.

If they give you a bunch of crap, go to the sales guys and drive another new one with the service manager. They hate that but it’s an effective way to get the point across.

Was your 2018 stock tires, wheels, suspension, etc.. lift?

Yes. I'm dropping it off at the dealership tomorrow.
