Some folks will roll their eyes, but I don't think that's being too picky. From an interior design standpoint this is w/o a doubt a "miss" in retaining the original factory look and integration with the rest of the interior. The gloss black seems to stand out like a sore thumb.

This maybe an option, you should ask Eric before you purchase if this can be done. The test unit I received was mat black.

If that is an option they should definitely let folks know.

I am a little embarrassed to report this but, I just discovered where the reset button was on this head unit. I pressed it and it seems to have solved my issue with the volume muting and unmuting. I will report back if it reoccurs, but so far so good. As far as the second issue, I have to pull out the head unit to reconnect the OBD2 wire. I'll have to do that another day. I am leaning towards getting the Sergey FW update.

I don’t think it is an option but if you request it I think they could make it one.

Companies generally don’t offer different styles or colors on the trim surround to not only save money in manufacturing but also due to the different trims and such over as many years they are covering. They usually choose what they feel would meet the needs best. The surround is easily removed and could be painted to whatever color you choose.

Just bought it, but it's been lifted and who knows what else has been crappily done before I got it. It's going to be a project for sure... but it's my daily driver too.
I just wonder why they won't just pay Sergey a buttload of money and license his stuff, incorporate it so they have a good product off the rip? Even after reading all the happy users so far, I am still on the fence. The lack of connections is mainly what's keeping me back. I have personal and work phones (My crap Kenwood has dual concurrent bluetooth connections) and still need other connections like some have mentioned... so unless someone can come up with a PAN (tongue-in-cheek: TAN (truck area network)) device that will allow multiple bluetooth and wireless connections to make this 100% integrated/useable... I may have to go with one of the 10" units. I wouldn't mind the tablet option, but question the practicality durability when I'm in "hold my beer mode"--just haven't played with any of the docks/holders for them yet.

New Navigation DVD/CD/TV/AV/Bluetooth Stereo and seat mod spacers, 1" hubcentric spacers, seat heaters....
These two quotes really hit hard. And, yes, they should be looking into incorporating Sergey's firmware/software from the get go. Right now I am not willing to separate a $1000+ from my wallet to field test a product that isn't quite there yet.

    Waiting a bit longer.

And a matte finish, come on...

I will say it’s not and shouldn’t be a deterrent. It doesn’t look horrible by no means.

Same here for my 2014. I just want to wait till the bugs have all been worked out and available in matte finish.

Rockdwg I hear ya....but make no mistake you don't need the Sergey firmware unless you want to open it up. It's not necessary by no means. I'm just the kind who likes all the bells and whistles at my disposal. I'm updating a 16 year old stereo/look and want the bells and whistles....plus I was upgrading the sound throughout the truck...If you're just looking to update the look, get a better stereo, add the carplay or android auto....then no need for the Sergey SW.

Factory bezel on 2.5 gen is gloss black, so that's why. I keep seeing hate on it and can only suspect that it's coming from 2012 and prior model owners. For this and the joying hu.

I just went out and took a look at my 2014 and it is glossy. Thanks for the correction.

Guess I should've clarified in my original post that yes, 2.5 gen is gloss black. Regardless, the dash kits from other aftermarket companies are offered in the matching factory matte silver or black (some even include the texture) for the 2nd gens. Again, that's why I prefaced my earlier post with some folks will probably think it's a frivolous comment I'm making. Some people like the gloss black, while others don't...to each their own.

Hello, so I recently installed this Aucar head unit in my 2015 Tacoma trd pro and ran into a couple of problems. 1 - when I plug in the OBD port the Tacoma and rpm picture doesn’t show up it’s just half the screen with a blank black picture. 2 - also when I plug the OBD port in and try to put it into gear it doesn’t fully go into drive it stays on the backup camera screen and on my dash it shows that I’m in drive and reverse at the same time and it’s confusing the truck which is throwing on my engine light and trac off light. 3 - whenever I start it, my screen is distorted for a couple of seconds then goes back to normal. 4 - lastly I wanted to watch Netflix on it but it’s not an option I possibly need an update but I have no clue what I am doing, can someone please help me out?

Ok so I’ve noticed another annoying issue. When I remote start my truck to warm it up, bluetooth won’t connect too far away no big deal, but when I hop in and driver off it will not connect unless I either shut the truck off and restart or do a restart from the reset button. This kinda sucks as when bluetooth doesn’t connect neither will carplay as it uses bluetooth to form a wifi connection in order to work.

I have a scanguage in my truck that I mainly use to monitor transmission temps. Because this unit plugs into the OBD port is it possible that it could it serve the same function?
