Hello guys, hope all of you have had great Christmas.

Im here now to ask for a guidance, I just found out that I’m missing the check engine light on my dash, it is supposed to light on when turning key on, but it is just missing, I’m thinking that previous owner did a trick or something, my truck does not has catalysts so it should have some codes on.

Im taking it to the shop tomorrow for a tune up so I’m gonna ask to check that.

Wonder if anybody may have a diagram to check circuit for any open wires or signal broken. Or a clue what can be checked.

thanks you guys, I have attached a picture with my key on so you can see what I Mean, check engine I believe should be next battery light.

Thank you and happy new year.

Should be easy to check it's a single wire from the ECM to the cluster, the ECM grounds it to turn the light on.
I can post a diagram if you post your engine size.

My guess is it’s a 4.0, since it has a 5 speed Auto shift indicator.
I think the 4 Cyl Auto is 4 Spd.

In MX is pretty common to take your cats out, personally I don't do that, I just got it without them, but nowadays people can steal your cat pretty easy with a saw lol, for a cat like our tacos have they can sell it for about 400-500 USD.

Im planning to install a new cat because I bet it should have check engine on and to avoid any possible failure, also I dont like how it smells lol. But need to figure it out first the check engine light not working first

Going to the shop. Just have them check it and give an estimate for repairs. Then take the next steps.

Just curious. Did you do a quick scan to see if there are any codes? If you bought it used, and there are codes, then it would put a higher likelihood that the seller disabled (via tape, cut wire, etc.) the CEL (rather than it being just something like the LED being burnt out.

Yep, I got o2 (P0031 and P0051) on, cat codes (P0420 and P0430) and also I got the code for a malfunctioning on maintenance light but forgot to write it down, checking on that this weekend in a chance.

i bought it used, so definetely previous owners did something to hide the light.

Happy New Years guys, keep you posted

That sucks...hope everything works out. I always buy used (because I'm a cheap@ss), so whenever I have to shop, I always take my scanner with me to scan any potential candidate. It's not a hyper expensive one (Autel DS808), but it scans deeper than your typical cheap OBD reader. Since a lot of them can't do all OBD modules, you can never tell if something is "hidden." These days, you can get relatively cheap handhelds that can at least SCAN all the modules even if there's no bidirectional controls for them.

I also have a BlueDriver bluetooth dongle which does really well too (even if it can't control/reset everything). I don't think I've come across anything that it couldn't at least read/see. Plus it's convenient because you use the app on your phone which makes it way portable. If I'm buying, though, I still use the Autel out of paranoia that it's going to be the one thing the BlueDriver can't read/see. I keep the BD in the glove compartment.

Yes, that definetely is a good advise, I’ve seen scanners preaty easy to carry out and phone app controller, so I will have that in mind on my next purchase, the good of everything lol is truck running fine, I just
    Believe the mix is not
Been properly burned, but hopelly O2 sensors would fix that plus the cats.

I took a pretty quick look on eBay for the sensors and found some, I just got one doubt that you may help, the sensors that is marking the code la are the one closest to the intake manifolds on both sides, so that one’s should be the upstream o2 sensors or downstream o2 sensors?

I would not bother replacing the A/F (O2) Sensors until you see why you are throwing the 0031 and 0051 codes. Those are for the AF heater control. I’d first see if the 15A A/F Fuse is good.
Then go down to the A/F Sensors and see if I have power to them. Or, you could pull the A/F relay and check there.

Again, check the A/F Fuse, and let us know what you find.
