Looks great. So I assume the wheels are the problem? I have the TRD 4R Pro wheels with 265/70/17 with the OEM mud guards and no rubbing and in fact I believe a 285 will fit with minor trimming. Im lifted 2/1 on 5100s and not even dealing with 285s. If there was a 275 in a SL rated tire I may do it. I should be fine with a 275, I know BFGs run on the small side but hoping TOYO will do this size in a SL rated or even C rated.

I think the 275s will be a perfect fit, as i need my mud guards to stay, I'm not removing them so thats comletely out of the question. I like the 275s as I don't think the speedo will be off that much as my 265/70/17s are spot on accurate with the GPS.

There are a couple options for mud flaps that sit tighter to the wheel well. That said, I have stock mud flaps and no rub at any articulation or steering angle as checked with shocks out before install on my 275/70/17 with the trd pro 4R wheels. Pushing the wheel fwd in the well a bit with alignment cams helps but that usually requires UCAs to get good numbers.

My speedo was 2-3mph slow after install. Not sure what it was with stock tires.

Think I'm sticking with 265/70/17s as the Toyos I have are one of the bigger one I have looked into. I currently run the AT2s and my son just got a new set of AT3s and our trucks are set up identicaly the same. His newer tires look bigger. The 265s look great as its just a win/win all around, tire weight, no recalibration, rubbing, wear and tear, more tires to choose from, no alignment issues, keeping my stock mud guards all for about a 1/2 inch to 2/4 inch more tire. Think I'm staying with 265s.

Yeah from what I gathered there's a significant amount of variance from vehicle to vehicle regarding rubbing, tire size, offset etc. Some people put on 275s no lift and had no rubbing on day to day driving, others like me didn't make it out the parking lot before the shooostting began.

My wheels are 4.75 BS and 0 offset. I was prepared to do whatever it took to fix rubbing issues.

The 265s would definitely be a safer bet if you don't want to potentially modify your truck.

    Good luck!

Had these on for a few hundred miles now, from previous 265 75 16's. I thought it was noticeable. Unless I'm on flat ground or at a decline, truck feels like it doesn't want to cruise in 6th. MPG's dropped about 2ish, average 20 on the highway, conservatively. Otherwise great ride and handling.

A good tune will take care of your transmission problems and give a little bump in lower end power

I think that's out of the question here in CA with the emission regulations and ECU mods, unless there's a way to get the dealership to do something?

Basically everyone tunes their truck in CA these days. From what I was told, the tune is undetectable and can only be overwritten if the Dealer does a TSB on your ECU. In that case, you would just tell them not to and go on with your day.

I was running 285/70/17, decided this time around to go to 275/70.

    No more rubbing!

I'm not familiar with the details of the CA emissions regs but I would suggest contacting a VFtuner in your area and asking about inspections and such. I am sure that there are many in CA using tuned ECUs in their Tacoma's. Most tunes improve fuel efficiency, fwiw.

Joined the 275 club today with some new matte grey TRD wheels. Couldn’t be happier with the look. No rubbing thus far and performance loss seems marginal. well worth it.

Regards to your comment about power loss, I can second that. Slight decrease in power but very marginal. Shift points feel slightly better in my opinion, not nearly as clunky when shifting gears.

3" OME lift, SCS Ray 10s, 33" Duratracs, DT Headers. Oh and the g/f has a '22 Taco TRD OR.
Boy, I'm really glad to have found this thread, and apologies for the question that will surely have been answered in the last 75 pages, but that's a lot to search through lol.

My g/f finally got her 22 TRD OR delivered yesterday. We're in for putting on pretty much the same lift as my 4R, which is the OME 884/90021 up front and Headstrong's 3-leaf AAL/884s in the back for what should be a 2/1 lift. Does that sound right?

As much as I want her to get 33's like I have, she doesn't need them, so I think we may have found the dream size in the 275/70r17 Falken Wildpeaks paired with probably some 0 offset Methods or something in that range. My main concern is there any UCA rub with 0 offset wheels and these Falkens? I think this tire size will be a great compromise and I wish more people made non-E rated (but not SL) tires in this size. It's basically just the Falkens as far as I can tell that are a C or D.

I am not sure if it has been posted here but Mastercraft (made by Cooper) has a 275/70r17 in a C rated tire. I think they weigh around 45 lbs.
I have been running them for about 6 months and they have been fantastic. I had KOs (E rated) and while I didn't notice a huge difference in ride/performance every bit of weight counts. Also, even though they are the same size they have a slightly wider look....not much, just enough!
Reasonably priced, lightest(?) weight, 50k tread life, and IMO they look great makes them worth checking out.
