    Hi everyone,
I just sold my 2001 Tundra and purchased a 2022 TRD OR. Love it! The truck has the $800 technology package (not the Advanced Tech Package).
I did not realize that meant rear camera but no front camera. Bummer!
    I need a front camera.

Is this where the camera would go or is this some other sensor? It is wired to the car but does not appear to be doing anything.

I'm wondering if I could buy the Toyota camera and plug it in if this is where it would go.
Maybe I'm way off on this.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Bruce

Advanced tech has the 360 camera, so more than one (front and mirrors), I doubt its as easy as plug and play as you'd need harnesses, specific wiring, the dash button, etc.

Thank you. What is this sensor for then? It has a wiring harness attached to it.

The bottom sensor is for your TSS or collision avoidance and adaptive cruise control. And no prob!

The sensor in the front grille on the bottom is for Toyota Safety Sense if that's what you're referring to.

    https://www.toyota.com/safety-sense/

Is that your truck in the picture? It looks like you have a front camera already.

Have you seen these kits? https://www.anytimebackupcamera.com/products/2020-kit

They let you see what's going on anytime with the front and rear camera with a toggle switch. You could probably order one without another camera if you don't need it or if it's something you're interested in.

That does not look like a camera, else someone spray painted over the lens. It looks like a sonar sensor for parking..

Its nothing, its the filler / piece for trucks not optioned with advanced package front camera, that is the grill from the TRD lift and if the truck doesnt have a front camera they use that piece where the camera in optioned trucks would be.

When I swapped to the OEM Pro grille on my '21 I did the Anytime camera mod. I used the Raayoo cam and it was a bit finicky to get positioned properly, but the kit works well. The wiring was a little short to run all the way to the left of the driver (did not have any blanks available under the headunit) but it works. If the wires were 1' longer it would be a considerably easier install.

Thanks, everyone. There is a wiring harness attached to this plastic piece. I'm curious if I purchased the camera and plugged it into the harness, would she work?
That would be super easy and nice.
    Thoughts?

It’s fugly, but what do us pre-Toyota Nanny 2017 owners with the classic cheese grater grills know? :notsure:

You would still need the cameras in the mirrors and the button in the cab….and I assume new software to accommodate all of it.

Honestly I can’t live without the 360 camera on mine, especially if I’m in a big city like Seattle with right streets and parking spots. I believe there are some aftermarket options available, I would check those out.
