Toyota sold Chevy Cavaliers in Japan badged as Toyotas. Of course GM built the full vehicle. That's why GM carried the Toyota emblem in its parts system.

There were even 50 TRD Cavaliers made:

The z24 was a good shape with nice lines....right hand drive with Toyota power train would be sporty. Was that available?

at 4:00 he unbolts it and it jut pops out. at 4:16 he comments he thinks it's meant for a duramax and looking at the spindle, it looks like it had alright coverage. hard to say since the engine rebuild by that guy is along the lines of "found it, bought it" type deals. Who knows who wrenched on it before.

According to what I was able to find, the engines were GM, Ecotec or something

    Why?

Nothing wrong with a Cavalier. I can't figure out why Toyota would want to build, brand, and sell a U.S. design product in Japan.

This was the engine designed for Opel and it turned out to be a good one. Still used in some Buicks now.

It was for the GM benefit. Because of this cooperation, GM was avoiding import/export fees...

Here’s my take on that strange moment in history. In the 1990s (and still) Corollas were so boring that Japanese people wouldn’t buy them. So Toyota got into a profitable venture of pushing GM shit onto their own kind. Sure they were exciting (foreign and weird niché crap eh), so the locals bought them. Two years later when all the Cavaliers were all broken and Mr Toyoda had pockets full of GM cash, the locals realized that Corollas were made boring so they never break, and started buying them again. Win-win for Toyota.
    The End.

I was inside many Cavaliers and Sunfires of base, Z22 and z24 variety back in University, and they were all terrible. Better to look at than a Corolla, and the Z24’s moved quickly when abused, but they were muuuuch less well built.

My first car was a z24. Two cylinder walls cracked and the engine was done at 55k. Repair was done under warranty but the car was even worse after that. Nothing ran right and always an issue. Got to the point where when running at normal temp., I couldn't shut the thing off because it wouldn't start again. It needed to cool down in order to do that. Got rid of it and been with Toyota ever since. I will never own any GM product no matter how nice it looks.

Surely you'd own a Chevy if it had initials Z06 or ZR1?

As nice as they are I still wouldn't. Maybe if I had money and was building up a car collection then I would probably have one but it's not anywhere on the top of my list if I had 100k to spend

Sometimes I just need to use my rig as a skidder

I love playing around on the trails :cookiemonster: Just a solo trip today.

As @Marc70 teased me, then was all 'oh I cant now' :infantry:

Cut it into 3 large chunks, and hauled em off the other way, this entire area was logged last season. This was a cleared area, so it made it nice and easy for me to just haul them off the side. I would have tried to just pull the entire tree off with out cutting it at all. But a week ago we had a thaw+freezing rain event. Under the snow is solid ice. As soon as you dig through, you get 0 traction. Had to spend a bunch of time instead of just bigger haul. :fistbump:

Normally I would cut these up and keep all the wood. At the moment we are staying with my parents while looking for our forever home.

This has stopped my wood hoarding. :playball:

I wrapped them in the 'tree saver' then looped a regular 30' strap through the tree saver loops. Worked perfect.
