My only complaint with the freebie service visits was the free complimentary car wash...they bring my truck out dirtier than when I took it in...with water drops. It's like they see it...showroom shine so they spray it with water and bring it out:crazy:

They did that to mine too on one side on the very first oil change. They ended up having to drill it out and put in a larger bolt. I now have to use a different socket on that one side. I know in the grand scheme of things its not that big of a deal, but it pisses me off every time I have to deal with it.

90% of “scheduled service” is they “inspect” things to charge you for.

What's the $69 service and supplies for?

"We topped off your brake fluid and charged you for it"

I was shocked what they charged me when my prius toyotacare service was done. $270 for an oil change, wiper blade replacement, and tire rotation. That was the last time they saw that car. Had it done by our napa shop for less than half.

I recently had my last free maintenance on the certified taco. I must say I wasn’t happy and answered the Toyota survey with my complaints. Changed oil. 1/2 qt low. No free wash but it’s okay I didn’t want them to run it through a washer that isn’t touchless. I asked that they put ALL the tires at the same pressure. They didn’t do that but said I should get my tires balanced after they rotated $99. . Lol. I said you put new tires on for the certified why don’t you do it for free. Guess that was asking too much. I see the dealership owner at the golf course so next year he will hear about it. His name isn’t even Johnston.

I agree with the dealer on this one. You are WAY TOO EARLY, unless you have detected some problem. The first service isn't until 5000 miles, and that one is pretty much just eyeballing things. I don't think I have seen anyone go in for the 5000 mile service, although there are probably people who have. Be patient and wait...

On the free or so called free Service it will be done by the newest less skilled employee.

It is an excuse to get you in the door and sell more Goodies

Then all dealers are independent but have to follow corporate guidelines.

Didn't see it clearly listed here, but Toyotacare is 2yr coverage with 6 month intervals.

5000 mi / 6 months - Tire rotation and fluid check.
10000 mi / 12 months - Oil change, tire rotation, fluid check.
15000 mi / 18 months - Tire rotation and fluid check.
20000 mi / 24 months - Oil change, tire rotation, fluid check.

If you hit the mileage or the number of months, you are due for the service. This is all according to the Toyotacare policy.

1st gen - it's got a built engine, a turbo, and waaaaaaay too much to list. 3rd gen - basic-bitch lift, S/C, Pro Wheels

It's mileage OR time, it states it right in the service manual... My 19 has been in every 6 months pretty much on the dot because I have yet to hit the mileage... Not a single issue from the dealer.

With that being said, can I prove they actually changed the oil? Not really, not enough miles to make the oil dirty before it going in for it's scheduled change...I can however verify they rotated my tires. My ****in lug nut "wells" have the marks to prove it...

Had several scuff marks on my wife's wheels after they rotated her tires. They did replace the 2 they scratched up, but they won't get another chance to do it.

If it gets any worse I'll have to say something. But I have aftermarket wheels and tires that they didn't install, so I figure that'll be an uphill battle it I do.

I'm sure it will be a battle. I had her car detailed every 2 weeks and the guy said he knew they weren't scratched before I took it in for the 5k tire rotation. I'm sure that's the only reason they replaced them.

My Taco is turning 12k and I am making appointment this week for oil change etc that is required for the 2nd service as I skipped the first one. I am not taking it to the dealer but to my local mom and pop garage that will do the work and they have downloaded the maintenance schedules. My truck will only see the dealer for warranty issues other than that I keep away from it. They tried to lure me with a gas discount car of .03 cents a liter up to 880 liters which sounds good but it is only 25.00 and not worth it for me to drive 1 1/2 hour to get it. I will be keeping all receipts for work done. Love my Toy so far no issues.

Yeah , if u can find a local shop u trust , it's better to just let them do it and pay for quality work. Just have a folder for receipts.

Yes, this local shop did all the maintenance and repairs on 2014 my Venza before trading on the 2021 Taco and they did a great job. The price and quality of their work as made me decide to stay with them.

3 retired mechanics have a shop in our small town. You can tell they are good guys and actually care about your cars.

Same thing happened to me on the first scheduled MX.

I bought my truck in Maryland instead of the state I live in (Delaware) for personal reasons. [The drive was less than 45 miles]

Instead of driving to Maryland for my first scheduled MX, I thought to give the Delaware dealership 13 miles south of my location, a shot at taking care of my new Sport.

The first maintenance 9/30/21 did not include an oil change; I paid for the service. As I went to accept my truck, I did a walk-thru inspection & opened the hood to look for anything out of the ordinary. All checked good.

Over the weekend as I was changing bolts for my Talon CAT plate, I looked the the area around the oil pan and worked my way up to the skid plate and noticed one bolt holding the Air Dam was bolted in crooked.

From there, I felt disappointment as I unbolted the skid plate and noticed they were over-torqued. I took photos on my phone and decided to visit the dealership the following Monday.

I asked to speak to the service manager and explained what happened and showed him the photos on my phone. He looked at my work order after I gave him my name and the date of service. After calling the young tech over and having me explain what happened, the young tech was somewhat speechless as I was asking him questions about his technique.

During the discussion I had with the tech, the service manager was looking at something else on the computer and not focusing on how to correct the discrepancy. When I asked him about the bolt for the air dam, the tech complained that it was in a awkward position and he wasn't able to see how it was bolted in. I told him he needed to use a ratchet instead of power tools to tighten those soft areas.

As I ended my conversation with the tech, the service manager seemed satisfied with the outcome and basically told the tech, don't do it again. Meanwhile, I'm left with bolts that have frayed threads.

After our discussion, I mentioned to the service manager regarding the survey that was coming my way soon. That caught his attention and he requested that I give a good review. I just shook my head and walked out.

Later in the week, I received a VM from the dealership asking why I had given them a low rating. I never called them back and deleted the message.

You just never know who they have back there doing rotations and oil changes. I'm sure it's not their seasoned veterans.
