I'm sure this is a topic old as time itself but I couldn'd find what I was looking for. When I first washed my Tacoma I put rain x on all the glass and mirrors. When I washed it this past week I thought there would be enough rain x residue left to protect the glass and mirrors from any water spots even though I have a water softener. I was wrong and fell like a complete dumb a$$. After washing it has only been outside for 2 days and then I put it in the garage. Now I have to find a way to removing the water spots. I tried CLR and it did nothing. Can anyone recommend something to take the water spots off the glass and mirrors without damaging them?

Sounds like bad acid rain. Usually buffing the paint and glass with compound will remove most hard water spots

no need to go cutting into the clearcoat for water spots. First try clay bar before going hardcore with compound.

Actually it's from our county water supply, no acid rain. And the spots are only on the glass not the paint. We have a water softener but it must not take all the minerals out of the water. It has only sat outside for 2 days since the wash so I thought that not being exposed to sunlight for weeks/months wouldn't make it so hard to remove.

There is a product called spotnot. That will remove water spots and even some mild scratches from glass. Just be careful when you use it. Its acid

I used to live out in the country and would get terrible water spots after washing my vehicles even with our water softener. I found a cheap and effective solution was a 50/50 mix of distilled water and white vinegar. It smells bad, but worked very well for me.

After trying the 50/50 white vinegar and distilled water I found that it didn't do anything. I tried lemon juice and that did nothing. I then went for broke with Invisible Glass Stripper. I was shocked as it took all the water spots off the glass and mirrors. They look like factory new. I'm sold on this. I would highly recommend it.

0000 steel wool with glass cleaner (windex) did it for me... just on glass only.

Barkeepers Friend, on the glass only.

I am an Invisible Glass fan, but unaware of the 'stripper'.

I'm going to use the entire name on my shopping list, as the wife might fret if I just wrote 'glass stripper.'

I don't need it for the truck, but I bet it will work great on shower doors & soap film. And easier than clay.

I agree with Clearwater Bill. BARKEEPERS FRIEND works great on glass. Did an excellent job taking the water spots off the glass blocks in my shower wall. On plastic headlights .... don't know about that.
